Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So a guy that I work with who has a 40th Aniv. Corvette and I went for a nice spirited run into the hills around Santa Cruz and down Hwy 1 to the coast. We had a lot of fun on the run. His corvette just had so much HP and torque on me though so it was hard to keep up in certain spots even though I could make it up in the corners.

POST 3Original post

Nice I threw some insurance on today and went for a couple hours. Had to put a youngin in a hopped up stang in his place Thoroughly enjoyable!

How do you do that? My liaibility portion of the 996 insurance has to be continuously off for 45 days else I do not get the pro-rated reduction for taking the liability coverage off for the winter......

I got the same speech this year however I don't recall it from previous winters, I thinking it's a new policy, at least at TD MM.

im sorry...i have no idea what you just wrote. here in BC we have govt insurance. and our insurance is linked to our driving record, not our insurance history so to speak. also we can get however long insurance whenever we want. come march ill go put insurance on till mid november. then once that lapses ill put storage insurance on it till next mid march. and the odd nice day in between ill throw a day or two on it to go kick some punk in a 'stangs ***. so as long as i dont have accidents my insurance stays at 40% regardless if im insured or not.

POST 7Original post

All very confusing... My full cover insurance runs all year. BTW real nice photos.

My policy is with Aviva and that's how they explained to me two years ago when I first got the 996. My dad's insurance is with Allstate and it has the same condition when we took off the liability portion when he had an open-heart surgery last year and his car sat in the garage for 5 months while he recouperated from the surgery. For winter months I remove the road portion of my auto insurance for the 996, keeping only the comprehensive (fire & theft) coverage, this saves about $100 a month in my case. I, and many other Ontario Porsche owners would love to be able to just add a day or two of road insurance on the car during the winter months when the weather and road conditions are good so we can leagally drive the car with proper insurance coverage. However I get the impression more than a few Ontario insurances companies don't want to deal with their policy holders constantly putting their road insurance on for a couple of days and then take it off again, so they have now made it madatory to keep the road portion of the insurance off for a minimum of 45 days straight before the road insurance premium reduction will come into effect. So if I called the insurance company on Nov 1st to remove my road insurance, and then called them agin on Dec 14th to add road insurance back on, then I am not eligible for the discount b removing the road insurance for only 44 days. I hope that's clear now?

So this is the part I don't quite understand: - What do you mean by "throw a day or two on" the insurance? - How is that done? - Do you have to send a signed declaration to the government to add road insurance coverage on top of the storage insurance, then send another signed declaration to take the road coverage off? - Does this cost extra premium you have to pay for? Government run insurance is a new concept to me!

POST 11Original post

first off gotta say sorry to jdog for the hijack.... no i just go into London Drugs or any other agent and say "its a beautiful day today...id like to take my car out. lets put one day of insurance on my baby" they say ok...i produce registration and drivers license, they provide insurance for the day of full everything (collision , comp, liability), and i go drive for the day. my storage insurance is totally optional and the two are not related at all. couldnt be any easier really. no declarations other than the papers i sign at the agents. ya ill pay for the day, or two, or week. its not cheap but its better than paying for an entire month and really only using it for that weekend.

POST 12Original post

Got it. jdog, sorry for the OT posts...... A few guys brought out their Porsche today at the GTG, 997, Boxter, Cheynne and a 996 Turbo.
