Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A cone took out my radiator during the accident avoidance course in the porsche driving school yesterday. It looks like lower radiator plastic neck where the hose connects is the weak point and hangs slightly below the radiator height. If it gets hit I can see why it would easily crack the radiator, nice weak point on the 996. Pulled it yesterday once I got home, would recommend jacking and removing the front wheels but does not have to done as I didn't do it. I was being lazy and next time I will as it would have saved some time and swearing. Can't believe how much work it is to get it out compared to a normal radiator. Few questions 1) Any way to repair this radiator (such as jb weld or permatex rad repair) or am I just better off getting a new on 2) Least expensive place to source a new turbo radiator & porsche coolant, have a 996 Anniv and it has the large rad. 3) Easiest way to burp the air out of the cooling system and/or have my indy shop do this part as they have the pressuring system for this. 4) Does anyone know of any idea's or way to protect the lower radiator neck

There are some kits out there. But from the looks of those, if I were going the adhesive/mesh route, I'd use the two-part "Plastic weld" and a suitable mesh like fiberglass drywall screen. See this site for an alternate sort of vulcanizing technique. No affiliation with anyone. http://www.urethanesupply.com/radiator.php Personally, I'd give repairing it a try - think it could work. Maybe someone will chime in that has some experience. GL with reapir.
