Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Last night a relay fell out, this one: i didnt put it back in because i dont know where its supposed to go. I have a MY03 996 I noticed last night a couple hours earlier, that when i turned the egnition, it took about a 1/2 second before it would start working. This morning, it took a second and half before it would fire. I drove it to the post office. Coming back, i tried starting it, when i turned it to on it took 2 seconds before it started firing. i got worried, drove it home and in my garage, i tried starting it again, it wouldnt start. Everything lights up, Everything else works fine, i doubt its the battery. help!?!? edit: I looked under, there was a line of relays that looked the same with 53 (4 to be exact, with 1 of them missing). So i just plugged it back in (it was the 3rd one fron the left) and now it starts again woohoo

POST 2Original post

You mean the engine is not even turning over now? Or is it turning yet failing to fire up.?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In laymans terms, the starter wasn't firing to turn on the engine. I held te key in the starting position (one after on) nothing happened the car was just electronically on. But now it works, I'm thinking fuel pump relay as well cause when it fell out, it probably started by sucking up fuel already in the lines, when it ran out and no fuel was pumped in, car wouldn't start. When i put the relay in, the first start was a second late, but the 2 starts after that fired right away like it should

POST 5Original post

Glad to hear you resolved it. Over/Under on how many posts before someone comes along, doesn't read the OP's entire post and see the situation has been resovled, and proceeds to make an unfounded IMS scare alert?

POST 6Original post

Thats the IMS relay, obviously, the IMS relay fell out when the shaft broke. lol
