Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I tried searching but had no luck. Last night I was driving around and all of a sudden, my drivers window went down like I started to open the door and the interior lights came on like a door was open. This then happened a couple of times again today. Has this happened to anyone else? Does someone know of a fix for this? Thanks in advance, Mark

POST 2Original post

Not sure, just a guess, but it sounds like a door switch, where the system thinks the door is opening, so it drops the window and turns on the interior light.

POST 3Original post

Before you start digging into this too deeply, try to reset the window electronics. Roll the window completely down, and continue to hold the window button down for 15 seconds after the window is all the way down. Then raise the window and continue to hold down the window button down for 15 seconds after the window is all the way up. Repeat this process one more time. This may solve your problem. However, if the problem recurs, then you may have to replace one of the two micro switches in the door handle.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the responses - I will try the window reset in the morning and will keep you updated.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I reset my window and I am still having the same problem.

POST 6Original post

any other electrical gremlins?... it could be an ignition switch. or a bad window regulator.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So is the general consensus a failed microswitch?

Sounds like it to me, I would start there.

POST 10Original post

you had any rain recently - or just washed the car? Early model issues with water in the doors leading to electrical issues if memory serves me correctly

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tim - as has been mentioned before - you da man! Thanks for the diagram, I will be attempting this fix very soon (I just started a new job recently and do not have much time).
