Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've checked the 'banana' tubes for obstructions but found none.

I've lubricated hinges; loosened and tightened all nuts/screws that i can get to.

I think you can get whole used decklids for around that much...or just go to a fixed wing like a GT3 aero kit (:

you have to take it all apart to lube the cables and clean all the small pieces.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It was mostly dirt and old lube that was hindering the motion so once it was cleaned and greased it has worked without trouble.
(I've looked for similar posts but did not find what i was looking/hoping for)
I have a 2001 Carrera that i bought 6 months ago. I noticed that the rear spoiler did not properly seat itself when it retracted (that's correct, no PPI...) back into the lid. off by maybe half an inch or so. The Driver seat seated better than passenger side. Over time the deployment itself got to be iffy and irregular. If it did deploy, it would at 75mph (+-) and seat at 35pm(+-). It wouild however not come up a second time while driving - so once down, down for good. Some pushing on the seating gap before the next drive ususally, but not always, ensured that it came up once more.
Same if i manually deployed in park.
I noticed that the retraction on the passenger side was more challenging and now it was getting to be lopsided. Viewed from the rear, the spoiler would, maybe, deploy, but now with a 20degree slant down towards passenger side.
I've checked the 'banana' tubes for obstructions but found none. I've lubricated hinges; loosened and tightened all nuts/screws that i can get to. The result? Now it won't deploy at all - just makes a noise from the motor
So, i've read on other forums that it is not unusual for the rear spoiler to behave like this and that there are some DIY fixes. Does anyone reading this post have a suggestion for further troubleshooting or....a fix (that does not involve a trip to the dealer...)...?
Sounds like the motor is starting to go bad.
There are a ton for sale on eBay for around $500 shipped. I believe there is also one in the For Sale section here but you will have to become a member to get the info.
I had the same problem. I dismantled the assembly, cleaned everything off and greased the moving parts with some red marine grease I had in the shop. It's a simple assembly with a cables attached to a couple of plastic linear gears that drive the up and down motion of the wing. This is all located under a panel on the underside of the wing. you have to take it all apart to lube the cables and clean all the small pieces.
It was mostly dirt and old lube that was hindering the motion so once it was cleaned and greased it has worked without trouble. There are a few small bits in there so be sure you are careful and go slow. It's helpful to have a third hand to hold the wing and to assist in getting it back together. I remember needing that when I tried to put it back together but after a few tries I was able to get it all back in. Saved the cost of a replacement assembly.
Good luck.
