I replaced my 4 spoke with a three spoke wheel on my 99 C4 today. The slip ring came a bit loose and I put it back in place. On assembly I turned the wheel to test it and heard a cracking inside the wheel. Two of the slip ring "ears" snapped off. ARRRRG!. Anyone know how much the assembly costs? I called Suncoast but they already closed. I'm quite certain I missed something on re-assembly with regard to the ring. I hope the new one is assembled and will just fit right on. ARRRRRRRRG!

Is that the same thing as the clock spring? I had 1 tab break off of mine when I still had it on the car. that might be what broke off and is in there.

When I switched to the 4 stalk column switch, one of the ears/guide pins was already broken and missing and then the other snapped upon reassembly. If fixed it using some short piece of clear tubing over the stub pushed over the stub of the guide pins. Problem fixed. Rick 99 996C4 87 944S

Yeah that's what it is. Two tabs broke off. You have to wind it all the way OUT and then back in two turns - or thereabouts. The three spoke is a bit different than the four spoke. I got it back together and in the car but I'm not happy about it and will buy the three prong part when I get a moment.

One of mine broke when I did the swap earlier. I was able to get the wheel to align so I wasn't too concerned about it.
