Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I broke the lid at the hinge on the center console. How is easy is this to replace and how much for a new lid? Any suggestions on where to get one?

POST 2Original post

Happens to all of them at some point. Any Porsche shop should be able to fix it easily, they have kits that will fix & reinforce it. They did mine for free (under warranty) because it was some sort of recall anyway. At the very least it should be pretty cheap...

POST 4Original post

There is a porsche salvage yard in LA, they woud have it I'm sure.' Porsche dimantlers' or something.

POST 5Original post

You don't need a new lid. There's a kit that most Porsche service centers have that will fix & reinforce. If you put a new lid on, it will be prone to breaking (just like the old one). Your old lid will be fine...

POST 6Original post

The hinge repair kit is: 996 552 960 01 about $24.39 (retail) and it should take you about an hour to do. You will need a drill and a pop-rivet tool.

POST 7Original post

The website for the porsche dismantlers in La is www.laporsche.com . They are located in Burbank. Have yet to purchase something from them, but I frequently look to see what is available.

POST 8Original post

as Loren said all you need is the hinge repair kit. I did it as well....about $15 or so from Sunset Porsche and installed it myself. This is not something you want to spend at minumum 1 hr labor when you could do it yourself very easily.

POST 9Original post

LA porsche is extremly expensive. I would only use them if I am really desperate. Please keep in mind that the 996 is the most produced 911 ever, by far. 3 to 4 times more than all others. Soon there will be lost and lots and lots of parts available.
