Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To gain more headroom in a sunroof delete car, I could remove the headliner. 1. What is under the headliner, primer or is it painted exterior color? 2. Would it look OK or is there items that require covering? 3. What purpose does the headliner serve?

POST 2Original post

Whoa! Slow down there sparky! Did you explore other options? Ripping out the headliner is pretty drastic (unless you're doing it for a dedicated track car and need to shave a little weight.) The headliner has a lot of insulation for both heat and noise -- I can just imagine the sound of heavy rain on a roof without insulation! Anyway, check out this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/180668-tall-guy-996-help.html . I think it makes more sense than ripping out the headliner.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I did not think about the insulation or noise issues. There is about an extra inch available by pressing into the headliner gently. My cabriolet has only the fabric exterior, ~ 1 inch air gap, then the headliner material.

POST 4Original post

How about putting in GT3 seats with the BK lowering brackets. That way, you won't make any major changes to the car, and can bring it back to stock if you ever decide to sell. Further, there will always be a market for used gt3 seats. CJ

POST 5Original post

Yup, that's what the thread that I linked to is about. It also has links to the BK part numbers.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am a Full-Figured Fella who can not come near fitting into a racing style seat. If there is a known way to lower the Manual Sport Seats, that would be the best solution, but all the lowering kits are for side mounts and not bottom mounts. I have reduced the amount of foam on the bottom seat cushion on my current car, but this is a last resort. Doesn't feel as comfortable on long trips. Spyder, have you changed your headliner? What did you find underneath?
