I've used a clay bar and it is fantastic for removing any stubborn "stuck to the paint" thing including sap and leaves the paint surface smooth like a mirror...........but in my experience won't do anything to swirls.

a clean car is a clean car and if it's a black, dark colored car, polish it up and get the swirls out.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

OK someone out there in my area knows of a GREAT Detailer, preferably one that travels to your home, that can make my car look more amazing than it already does.
So please let me know, and thanks in advance.
aside from basic waxing and polishing, detailing has always been a story something similar to the emperor's new clothes deal. deep luster... fancy synthetic waxes... all that stuff is beyond me. a clean car is a clean car and if it's a black, dark colored car, polish it up and get the swirls out.
otherwise, wash it and be done with it. i'd never spend hundreds of dollars to get the outside paint all super clean cuz it's imperfect anyways period since u drive the thing at speed.
Hey Speed Demon,
I dont trust anyone to clean my car so i did it myself.
Followed the boards tips and it looked fantastic.
Dawn Dish Liquid wash to remove the old wax.
Clay Bar (The blue one from Autozone... clay magic perhaps ?)
Then Rejex (got mine from the Pilot store in San Jose)
It looked stunning... my wife would notice and comment.
Even the guy in the gas station trying to sell some magic quick detailer said "... still got that new car look..."... but its a 2001 !!
You can also do a 3M hand glaze to look even better (i couldnt figure out if it was Rejex then glaze or glaze then rejex so did neither)
The bugs and stuff just wipe off after the Rejex and it stays great for a long time.
I have always washed and detailed my car, but can it be done better?
I was thinking about Rejex because I have heard a lot of good things about it. I am a Meguiars fan and have been for a while, but time to change. I have also heard good things about Griggs Garage
My paint looks great although it has some fine swirls if you look close that I want to get rid of. I want to make the yellow be painful to the eyes when you look at it, if you know what I mean.
So the clay bar will get rid of the swirls I am gathering?
As for the inside, again it looks good but I want someone to get it back to what it looked like 8 years ago if possible.
Ben I agree.
I am wanting to get rid of some of the fine swirls on the outside, but more importantly the inside needs more attention than what I can do.

Thanks for the info.
The swirls are not bad at all, just annoying to me because I see them when I detail it. I also do not want to damage the paint or remove what does not need to be removed.
Update: I spoke to Moe at Glistening Perfection and I have ordered a slew of detailing stuff including a DA Polisher (not from him), and so I will be detailing my car as I have been but with much better stuff. I will start a new thread once I have the car detailed, probably in a couple of weeks because my plate is already full with other stuff.
Lets see how I do first before I start taking customers
But I do not anticipate nothing other than a great finish once I am done, as I am a perfectionist when it comes to this sort of thing.
