I have since replaced the Pzeros with Pilot Sport Cups, added a 3 spoke wheel, silver crests, FPB, turbo s ducts.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
35 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

At the risk of being non-PC I think addict can stand. Besides, because of my addiction, I don't know if I could get used to these larger words.
Still sssshhhhhaking, Davidmichael
wit respect david, i suspect you've never seen an addict.
i get paid to see them. it's not my favorite part of my job.
political correctness has nothing to do with it. i am not and never will be politically correct!
otherwise i would not drive a porsche!
Ignacio, I respect how difficult it is to see a "drug" addict. However, we are all "Porsche" addicts and IMHO, I do not have a problem with being called an addict. Actually it really has become a sickness with mods.
Ig, your personal sensitivities aside, not all addiction should be considered bad......hovever most of the time it is, so I can understand your discomfort with the word.......
Not all PC is bad, however, given MY sensitivities, most of the time it is. Can you understand my discomfort with being told what English language words I can use?
This is not a public service paid for by our confiscated earnings (Taxes, the government), the members pay for it. It is a democracy at worst.......A business run by its owners at best.............Go find a real cause man............
gentlemen:
if i am outvoted so be it-- the term addict is not that important.
i do object heartily though to be told to go away and not come back.
such flaming does not generally occur on this board and has no place here.
adddict, Noun , one who is addicted to a substance, activity or habit---I would qualify.
IG: I too work in the substance abuse area and can understand your feelings about this descriptor. But in the larger world an addict can be anyone with a propensity towards one activity (i.e. golf, surfing) or habit (fast food, excersise)
Please view the word in its broadest definition and you will find it less offensive.
Bruce
Sorry about your sensitivity. I didn't say "stay off the board" I said if the term bothers you, stay off the board. I'm in AA and have many acquaintances that are AA and Addicts. None of us are ashamed of the term. It's interesting that you, as you said " get paid to see them" are ashamed of the term.
Maybe you should have chosen a different line of work?
This is a fun board, I dobn't want it to be a soap box. Leave it alone man, please.
david
i said nothing about "shame" in any of my posts.
you have no right to tell me or anyone to stay off this board. it's simply not yours.
enough said?
My name is Jaime Diaz and I have been addicted to Porsche all my life. There! I said it... does not look like acknowledgement of my addiction will make it any better...
I search for Porsches on Autotrader and run carfaxes (this is even for cars that I am positive I will not buy), I am subscribed to all Porsche magazines... and buy those that have an article or two on Porsche in them... My office is full of framed Porsche posters... I collect 1:43 models of these cars, a few 1:18 as well... I drive to the dealer every so often to test drive what they have on the lot... I am here in Rennlist every day or night and get mad when I do no see enough post to keep me busy reading them... I have broken stud from my 964 as a decoration in my office, I make coloring books of Porsches for my kids to play (you know that function in Photoshop to get outlines from photos? yeah, that)... I work on my cars up to crazy hours of the morning (2-3AM)... after any change I take the car out for a test drive (even if it was just a swap for new carpets)... every time I pass next to the car (951 or 964) my hands caress the lines of the car...
If addict does not describe me, then I do not know what word would... man! This is sick...
Davidmichael, I presume you are regering to me when you say to become a member, because its not exactly my name that you wrote, anyway I believe its me youre talking too
I became a member more than three or four years ago, they sent me by mail my rennlist number, but I lost it, so I dont know it I am still a member, where can I verify this? Thanks in advance.

I'm an addict too and I admit it.
I'm off today, and instead of watching TV, reading a book, or playing video games, I'm going to spend 3 to 4 hours washing and detailing my 996.
It's heavily modified and optioned, it cost me more that I care to admit, and I'm not done yet. I have no plans on stopping.
Yes, I am an addict.
I do think "addict" has negative connotations. And, yes, it does bother me that I am being called one. I probably am one, since I now have over 1000 posts, but I would stil prefer to be called something else. Like Renn-nut, or aficionado, as Ig has suggested.
Having said that, I now shake in my boots that I will be asked to leave the board
.
imo, addict is innaccurate because it implies a compulsion that one cannot control without treatment or a support group.
i consider my enthusiasm for porsches to be a rational, logical decision that is not coerced by physical addiction.
that said, it's only a semantic difference--no big deal.
peace!
whoa, the tone on this board is a lot milder than on the GT2/GT3 board. Has anyone checked it out lately? It's probably due to some of the egos involved, but it is pretty entertaining...
Ignacio,
IMHO, addiction is accurate. In my case and with many others more severe than I, it is an addiction to modify.
I had a nice 993 C4S with eibachs, 996 wheels, aluminum, white faced gauges, etc. I respraye the nose to remove the bumperettes and add euro turn signals and the turbo s ducts, a FPB, 3 spoke steering wheel, HRE wheels, PSS9's and silver hood and steering wheel crests. I wanted more power so I was thinking about chipping, regearing and supercharging. I chose...to get a 993TT. It has the LWF and sport clutch already, 18" HRE's and PSS9's. I have since replaced the Pzeros with Pilot Sport Cups, added a 3 spoke wheel, silver crests, FPB, turbo s ducts. It will soon be in the shop to respray the hood and remove the bumperettes and install the euro turn signals. I'm thinking more power so I'll eventually get an additional oil cooler, hybrid turbos, remapped ECU and possibly an upgraded intercooler.
So, if this doesn't qualify as an addiction...
BTW, there are people that have it far worse than me.
hi ads
you are describing an avid hobby not an addiction. i'm sure you could stop if you wanted to or if you ran out of money. an real addict could not stop.
i also suspect that your hobby does not impair your day to day existence in unpleasant ways.
i know that "addict" is frequently misused as a slang term so no big deal.
DavidMichael,
what's your beef with people? why the anger? if this is what is tolerated on this board, i want nothing to do with it. addict or not, i'll be able to live without it.
it's easier being friendly!
Ignacio,
I see addicts too (I'm an Infectious Disease Specialist), and I happily refer to myself as a "caroholic". I think most of us take it lightly, though my wife wishes there was a 10 step program for me. This forum is however as close as we get. So, just try these words:
"Hi, my name's Ignacio, and I'm a Porschaholic. I've had one for ___years now." Still, if it really bothers you, the moderator probably will accomodate you. Hope you don't get "Junkie" of "Porsheho" AS
alex
it isn't the fact that i am classified as an "addict" that bothers me.
i just don't think its a very good term for rennlist
i am surprised how much heat my simple suggestion has aroused. i can only surmise that the term "addict" arouses great emotions that are totally unrelated to cars.
how about "porsche nut" or some other more benign term? "porschaholic" as you suggest, may be good compromise term that is specific enough to have no negative connotations.
I spend too much time on Rennlist, and it makes me constantly want to upgrade my ride.
I think I'd be more peaceful if my internet connection got dropped...
