So returned that one, found one locally (thru ebay) but it was the wrong exterior color, so I had it repainted...looks perfect, and cost 2-300 less than the other one when you included shipping.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking for an Artic Silver Metallic hardtop. Anyone?

POST 2Original post

Try Brandywine Porsche in Newton Square, Pa. I saw they had a ton of them on E-bay.

POST 3Original post

My local Porsche dealer has about 12+ of them just sitting around, on the wheeled vertical storage rack. Just about every color you can think of. Seems as though almost no one wants it on their cab when they take delivery, so they end up orphaned at the dealer! Since they're in RI and you're in CA, shipping might be prohibitive however.

POST 4Original post

Man I wonder why that happens so often. I have the hard top and it is an integral part of my cab's wardrobe......In the spring and late fall I LOOK FORWARD to running with the hard top on. I wonder if folks who buy cabs just don't know it is suppose to be part of the package. Maybe some don't have the storage space? When I bought my cab, I was not aware of the rear wind screen and thus did not ask my dealer to include it with the car. When I found out about its availability and benefits I had to go buy one. Once the hard top comes off the wind screen goes in and stays in until the hard top goes back on. So my excuse was, that I didn't know about the wind screen.......Be a shame if people "didn't know" about the hard top.

POST 5Original post

Gretch, I'm with you, gotta have the hardtop, its one of the reason's I bought a 996 cab. Panerai - You should def try ebay, but only look in your general area, cause the top itself is big and awkward to ship. I bought a H/T in AZ, in the exact color combo of my car. It cost more to ship it than to buy it, and when it arrived it was scratched. So returned that one, found one locally (thru ebay) but it was the wrong exterior color, so I had it repainted...looks perfect, and cost 2-300 less than the other one when you included shipping. Too bad you're not in FLA, there is a guy on ebay selling H/Ts for $100 (n/r), and they have several colors.

POST 6Original post

I've been browsing through dealer inventories and most of the cars they have on the lot have the hardtop deleted option. Why don't they order it with the hardtop and let the owner decide? I agree, the car looks beautiful with it.

POST 7Original post

Probably so they can make more money from the client when they want one later on, since the delete is liek -$1850, and the charge upwards of $2500 for a new one. And all they really need to do it order a car in your color with one...put delete on the sticker and sell you the top....

POST 8Original post

I was looking at the Porsche car configurator and was building up a C4S cab. I remember seeing a dealer's photo of the options list with the hardtop delete listed as option code 750, but when I was doing the car configurator, I didn't see the option. Am I correct in assuming the hardtop is supposed to come with the car, but dealers are deleting them on their own accord? So if I order a cab, I need to make sure the dealer is aware I don't want the hardtop deleted?
