I had them get rid of the cassette holder and just put in a blank slot (Im not going to use a CD holder either, so I may as well make it useful).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

33 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, so heres some trip details: We arrived in Louisville around 10:45 and my sales person, Jeremy (great guy) picked us up in a Cayanne S. We got to the dealership about 15 minutes later and everything was totally ready. I got through the finance department in about 10 minutes. The car was totally prepped with everything. I had them get rid of the cassette holder and just put in a blank slot (Im not going to use a CD holder either, so I may as well make it useful). The car looked fantastic. We pulled out of Blue Grass Porsche a little after noon and headed out on I-64 east. After a while we got off and went onto State Route 60 in Shelbyville and took that east to the Iron Horse Pike outside of Frankfort. We took it down to the Kentucky Horse Park. There wasnt much going on there, so we decided just to walk around the grounds a bit and then head out east. I let the wife drive at this time. She did great (when I met her 13 years ago she drove a 4 speed Nissan in NYC and then bought a 5spd Eclipse in NYC youve got to love a woman who can drive a stick!). After a while it was my turn to drive and I continued on I-64 into WV. Once we hit Charleston, we headed north on I-79 to Clarksburg. What a fun road take a look at it on a map! Turns, hills, long sweep uphills, etc. It was here that there were very few cars on the road and the couple of cars I was driving with were all doing around 85-95 (70mph zone). On one uphill spot with no cars and no one around, I punched it a bit in 4th gear, the wife looked over and commented, Are you going ____ mph??? I said, Yes, her comment was, wow, certainly didnt feel like you were doing that. We spent the night in Clarksburg. The next morning we headed out towards Fallingwater in southwestern PA ( a house that Frank Llyod Wright designed). The ride was uneventful and fortunately, the hills of northern WV/southern swPA did not get the 1-2 inches of snow they were calling for. After Fallingwater it was just a shot home (sort of) on the PA pike and Route 78. The only issue that I was Route 78 in central and western NJ I was absolutely horrible in the C4S. The road had so many freakin bumps and other things. Everyplace else was great (sort of), except for 78. We had to go to Queens, NY to pick up my son (4yr) who was being watched by my mother-in-law. The wife took him home (about 1 hour north of NYC) and I headed out to see some friends. Of course, I had to show off the car to several friends and we had to have a beer at my favorite (old stomping ground) restaurant Zums (if youve seen the H&R Block commercial with the guys talking about lederhosen thats the place the p.r. company rented it for the day). Nothing salutes a new C4S like a weissbeir and some steak tatar. I made it back home uneventfully last night, although it seemed like every person with a Japanese car or some supped up A4 wanted to race me. I kept the cruise control one and meandered home. But long behold! This morning, I took my little guy out to get some bagels early on an Easter morning. I took a road Ive take thousands of times home my detector goes off, I slow down, next thing I know, 2 sheriffs on my tail in a 40mph zone. I may have slipped up to 45. One followed me to my road and as so as I turned on the road, his lights went on. Wow 1st time in 13 years that Ive been stopped. I pulled over in my driveway and he was very polite. He had the same last name as me and didnt give me any hassle (it couldve been the temporary KY tags). His comment was, you were going a little fast back there, slow it down.. My response was, ok, do you mind if I go out and check my mailbox since I havent been home in a few days? Unfortunately, I expect this to happen a bit more in the future, but damn, Ive got a sweet looking C4S. And of course, I washed it this morning, TO ALL THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP, ADVICE, ASSISTANCE, ETC. Im loving my car. Enjoy the pictures. Eric

POST 2Original post

Just beautiful!!! What options and mileage does the car have? She looks virtually new!! Congratualations - drive it in good health.

POST 3Original post

Way to go, Eric! I sure remember that first day feeling and the silly grin on my face the whole time. Beautiful car! Yeah, I got my first speeding ticket in years within the first 2 weeks of having the C4S...too easy to get to warp speed!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It has the following options (off the top of my head): Advanced Technic (meaning bi-xenon) Yellow seat belts Yellow seat back Porsche crest in seat Yellow console Colored wheel crests I picked it up with 334??? miles. I put on it about 950 miles in the past 3 days. I'm very surprised that I could easily drive this more miles without feeling stiff or having any back pains, compared to my Audi A6. The seats were surprisingly comfortable. Eric

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Phil, Agreed on warp speed. I'm astounded at how fast this car accelerates in each individual gear. Around the town I live, according to Porsche I should probably never leave 3rd gear! Eric

POST 6Original post

Nice ride, but no pics of the wife? J/K Let's see some interior shots. I LOVE yellow trim and seat belts. Thanks for posting pics and congrats. Looks like brand new.

POST 7Original post

beautiful... hahaha, getting pulled over already. What'd you expect from a pull me over yellow. Same thing happened to me. Bought my car in Georgia. Not one glitch....till I78 NJ, it must be the tri-state area. Congrats!!!

POST 8Original post

Eric, nice options on a great looking car. I got so excited today after seeing your SY pics, that I brought mine out of storage today. It's back home safe and sound. You're pretty new to the board, but there's a running joke about my lack of mileage. I plan to actually drive it this season!! I know there are doubters out there (my '04 C4S has all of 2580 miles), but I'm really convinced that NOT driving it is really harmful to these cars. she ran smooth as silk and feels like a brand new car, which essentially it is!

POST 11Original post

cool! you passed by my house by 2 miles! I live very close to the Horse Park. Car looks great!

that is absolutely pathetic LOL

Pathetic, yes. That's why I'm gonna drive it this season. But, you're still jealous!

We were out today playing with my car - took a drive to Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ - I was tempted to give you a call to see if you wanted to join us... but then again you shiny car next to my disgustingly dirty car would just have been too embarrassing.

POST 16Original post

Eric...glad everything went well without any issues. I also remember how I felt when I first drove my car, and I kept being amazed at the fact that I actually owned it. I'm coming up on 10 months with this car, and I still get very excited about it. My normal range for still getting excited for a car is about 6 months....not even close with getting bored yet...heck, I may never get to that point. Drive the car as often as you can, and I'll help you pick out some snow wheels and tires for the gloomy months. No problems with this car trekking thru the snow...it's actually incredible. BTW...is that the Kaufman house you were at?? J

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup, that was the Kaufman house out there in PA. I may pass on the snow tires. I've got my A6 with Dunlop Wintersport M3's on it for the winter and also have snow chains just in case. It's not that I don't trust the C4S in the snow, it's the other people. If I'm going to have a problem, I'd rather have someone hit my '99 A6 that has 147K miles.

Are you serious?!?!? I've had my car several years now and still get a thrill every time I look at it or drive it. You're insane, or not driving it enough if the thrill has worn off after 6 months.

Do you play for FCB?

POST 20Original post

Congratulations! Your excitement and the description of your drive home from KY brought back a lot of memories from just last November for me. You have a beautiful Porsche. Enjoy! Bob

POST 21Original post

Congrats, I've only had mine a week, and still wonder how it got in my garage....still need to remove the butt ugly airbag stickers and do the remote antenna mod and get a SS kit & upgrade the speakers & so on and so forth....BTW, I don't suppose they gave you the cassette storage? Been trying to get one on ebay for awhile..always seem to lose it by $1..same with the cassette player!..

POST 22Original post

Perryunva, Email me I have a holder. [email removed]

POST 23Original post

I know that feeling well. Glad you finally got your hands wrapped around it. Great pictures btw. Glad you took one of fallingwater, a masterpiece. Frank Lloyd Wright is by far my favorite architect

WELLARD....no, not even close to getting sick of my car....reread! My normal range is about 6 months, but this car is different. Perry.....I also have a cassette holder that I tried to GIVE AWAY last year, but I didn't have any takers. PM if interested. J

POST 25Original post

Congrats! Now get rid of those pumpkins. Phil, 2580 miles? Good lord, I just turned 65,000 miles on my 04! EDIT: My 16,000th post Drive, and post, drive and post.....

POST 28Original post

Eric, congrats! Sounds like a great drive - FWIW the 996 C4S is the only car I can find sexy in yellow - THE ONLY CAR ! I'm just as giddy in my 2nd month with my C4S as I was the day I brought her home. You'll get some good cardio. in with the frequent hand washings sure to come!

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was out there yesterday morning cleaning her up from the trip. I just can't wait to get home today to drive her (I'm forced to since I need to get an inspection for insurance today) - and I just checked the weather report and rain is no longer in the forecast for north of NYC this afternoon - it's now mostly sunny and 48. Thanks for all the great comments. I'm not 100% certain about the pumpkin-otomy on the lights. I've read a few comments that on a SY, they actually look nice. Does anyone happen to have any pics of a SY without the orange side markers? I'm also still thinking about tinting the windows with a very minimal amount of tint. I'd like a level that you know it's tinted, but that you also can see the yellow belts and seat backs if you look in.

POST 30Original post

mine's tinted at 20% and you def can't see my silver backed sport seats. yellow pops a lot more so i'm thinking you're safe with going 35%.

POST 32Original post

Congrats! Beautiful car! Welcome to the "yellow" club
