Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While removing the exhaust system (to ceramic coat the exhaust manifolds and have a new exhaust system fabricated), I ran into a little bit of a snag. Even though I put copious amount of penetrating oil on them, one of the exhaust flange bolts stripped. It is the one closest to the engine (of course) and the head is now rounded. The previous owner at some time had the bolts off the car. The two that came off were 14mm. The one that rounded is 13mm. Does anybody have advice on how to remove the bolt? Getting a drill or a hack saw to the problem will probably be a little difficult. Is there a tool that will grab onto a rounded bolt? This same problem happened to me a month ago on the Porsche and I was able to hack saw it off in about 15 minutes. Unfortunately, this is on my Maserati project car. The brake and fuel systems are rebuilt. I have to remove the exhaust, before I can flush out the gas tank. It should be running soon....I hope.

Fergus, that looks perfect. Thank you. I knew I could count on someone here to have the answer.

POST 4Original post

Sears has 'em also, probably easier to find. I've seen them at OSH.

Fergus and Eastbay, thanks guys. I bought a set of them at OSH and it worked perfect. Steve, thanks. It has been a fun project. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

POST 7Original post

Mark Those headers look like prime candidates for fisterd's ceramic coating.

POST 8Original post

Mark, I was wondering how the project was going - nice to see that fine car coming together!
