Hello all:
I'm looking for a set of Carrera 5 Spoke Lightweight wheels (first offered on the 2002 996?). These are cast 8" Front and 10" Rear wheels with 50 and 65 ET respectively. While I can get them from Wheel Enhancement for a pretty good price, I'd much rather have a win/win with someone here who is upgrading wheels and has them sitting in their garage.
I would also consider chrome turbo twists of 8 and 10 with similar offsets. Not sure if those even exist in those measurements.
Please do not respond with similar boxster sized wheels or any other wheels. I have already checked the classifieds.
I am located in the Bay Area, but would consider paying shipping from elsewhere in the US.

Thanks, I'd rather not play ebay roulette and buy from someone here. As a benchmark, they can be purchased from wheelenhancement used in mint condition for about 1700.

Be very careful with chromed wheels. Do a search on the 993 board - Jeff993TT had a set on his car and the wheel was improperly chromed and almost failed on him.
Once you see the pics of the inside of the wheel you won't want chrome.

I've sold (and bought) a couple sets of P-car wheels on Ebay and have been thrilled. Just deal with people with positive feedback and you'll be fine.

They are approximately 20.5 lbs for the front. The rears, which are 2" wider, must be somewhat heavier.
Having felt them mounted with tires, they are VERY light. There are very few options lighter than this that also have perfect fit.

For a data point on pricing info, used set with 2 month old tires--pirelli-- (500 miles) and mint condition wheels was $2575 with shipping via fedex ground.

I was looking at the Veloce GT1 Porsche wheels:
8.5 x 18 e50 Just 7.4kg (16.3 lbs)
10.0 x 18 e56 Just 7.9kg (17.4 lbs)
They seem to be 20% lighter than the MY02 Carrera wheels, and around 25% cheaper.
What else is there in this weight class that fits perfectly?
I find that weight and price remarkable. Truly.
As to fitment, I'm more concerned with 928, so I can't tell you what else is out there. By design, a frequent advertiser in Excellence magazine, always lists the weight of their wheels in their ads.
As to this veloce wheel, the 8.5 front with 50ET is a problem on the 928 so this wheel would not have worked for me.
In my opinion, the Carrera wheel is more attractive. : )
