Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How does the NGL compare to Graphite Grey standard leather in terms of quality, wear, etc? Will NGL go well with Atlas Grey metallic exterior color? Do you think it's worth the extra $3725? TIA.

POST 2Original post

Natural Grey is damn near black. In fact, I'd consider it "light black" for planning purposes.

POST 3Original post

Yeah, it's real close to black. I think it'd look great with Atlas Grey, but not sure it's worth the money to you (or the fact that it's not really grey at all).

POST 5Original post

I ordered the Natural Grey (much closer to "light black" than grey, as intoned above) interior, as I wanted something a little different than black. It will certainly be different, but the reality is that when I was at my dealer, I took the black samples out into a Natural Grey interior and could see that the differences are quite subtle. If you don't have the two materials side-by-side, you likely wouldn't notice. There is supposed to be a separate hide finish process that makes the leather surface/suppleness (is that a word?) different, but I couldn't tell from the samples. I had originally thought about getting black deviating carpet, but decided not to order it as the tonal difference was so small. The dealer messed up and ordered it anyway, so I'll have the Nat Grey interior w/ black carpet. No big deal, and it will give an ever so slight contrast. I'll know in a couple of days! Jeff

POST 6Original post

Does Natural Gray Leather come from Natural Gray Cows? What is it with the "natural" in gray and brown, anyway? ...and what's the regular leather called ...unnatural???

POST 7Original post

The carpet used w/ NGL is greyer than the almost-black NGL. This makes for great deviating carpet w/ Graphite Grey interior. I have this combo. I get nuthin' but compliments when people see it, and it doesn't show dirt like the light-grey carpet that comes with GG. -DT

POST 8Original post

I ordered Metropol deviating carpet with a Graphite Grey interior in my Lapis '04 TT Cab for the same reasons.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pete, I was looking at a 2004 Porsche Ordering Guide for the Carrera Coupe and saw the option (NGL) listed for $3725. I think the TT comes with an upgraded leather package already (as compared to the Carrera Coupe) so maybe it was a few dollars more to get the NGL for the TT. After reading the other posts above, I'm not sure the NGL is worth the extra $3725 for the C2. Balloonmeister

POST 10Original post

I'm not totally sure - maybe someone can correct me - I think the standard interior on the Coupe/Cab is "leatherett" (i.e. fake leather everywhere except for seat inserts) like the Boxter, so I think first you must decide if you want real leather, and then you must decide if you want some sort of upgrade on top of that (such as supple, NGL, etc.). Personally I'd put that toward an X51 package or some other performance upgrade.
