Suggestion

I looked into this with and you can swap the rear bumper without changing the re-bar or any other major (read: expensive) parts but the exhaust tips from the '99 to '01 will not work on the '02 and up rear bumpers as the cutouts are in a slightly different spot.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hopefully not repeating a thread as I don't get much time to look these days. Anyway, putting a 2003 rear bumper on an earlier car. Does anyone have a list of items that needs to be changed as far as mounting is concerned? Brackets etc.... TIA Dayton

POST 2Original post

I'm not sure that the exhaust tips on your car would work with the newer bumper. I have a 2002 and was told that the older exhaust tips would not line up with the cutouts. I assume the same for the other way as well. I think brackets, re-bar, etc. is all the same.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Long story short, (without breaking any board rules) I have a Porsche parts distributorship in California. This request is for a customer putting an 03 rear end on a 01 C2. Thanks for any input! Cheers Dayton Emerson

POST 5Original post

I checked the part nos. for pre 02 and 02 and later rear bumper assemblies and the part nos are mostly different except for screws etc. which leads me to believe it would be a major if not impossible job.... but I'm no expert. Now, I have a request. Joining RENNLIST by clicking on the line in my signature will be the best money you ever spent..

POST 6Original post

I looked into this with and you can swap the rear bumper without changing the re-bar or any other major (read: expensive) parts but the exhaust tips from the '99 to '01 will not work on the '02 and up rear bumpers as the cutouts are in a slightly different spot. That aside, it is a direct bolt on.

POST 7Original post

I have an extra 03 rear bumper from my cab if you want it ?

POST 8Original post

I have a pair of 02 exhaust tips if you want them.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the input guys, we are going to tackle this over the weekend. Cheers Dayton
