Installed an Ultimate Cupholder over the weekend.......only took 8 hours and a few runs to Pep Boys for tools.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have an '01 TT, and the no cupholder thing is bugging me. Other than the Porsche in dash retrofit (which I can't do because of my aftermarket audio system), what are other options available?
And before you say it:
1. Yes I'm considering painting the car "Mary Kay" pink,
2. I drive a Miata top down with the windows up
3. My other car is a minivan
4. I have a bumper sticker "Can I take your kid to Soccer practice?"
5. **** now scares me
6. I've lost my Y chromosone
I have the cupholders in my car, although I seldom use them save for a can of coke. For anyting taller they become scary, in part because I dont' drive like grandma. I installed them in the top slot, have the traffic pro under that. In the center console I have the cd holder then the temp controls on the bottom- can you do that, even if you had a double din nav or something you could ax whatever else you have and have the temp on the bottom and still have 1 din for something.
lets be honest, the way we drive ..cup holders do more damage than good.
cars i own that don't have cup holders:
1)porsche
2)skyline
3)2nd gen rx7
...i'm beginning 2 see a pattern developing here.
i'll admit that in a moment of weakeness i used the 5 point hole in the seat cushon of one of my sparco's as a makeshift cupholder.. but only because i was trying 2 hold a bag of mcdonalds in my lap while holding 4 other drinks behind my legs on the floor (in one of those square holder hitngs) while trying 2 shift...in stop and go traffic..in the rain....yes in that case..and only that case..were cupholders acceptabl.e
i have the ultimate cupholders that unc nick has and they work great. they are color matched (sort of) to the aluma-look interior and they really do work.
they are somewhat malleable so you can tighten or losen them depending on this size of the vessel from which you drink.
Don't put in a cupholder. Don't do it. If you need a drink, get out of your car and go have one. I usually have a small plastic bottle of water lying on the floor behind the seat so I can take a swig before I drive off, but if you need to drink while you're driving, get a different car. Better yet, hire a taxi.
i hate to say it but this one works pretty well for cans and some cups....

i (cough...ahumm. Cough...) Have one
Here all this time I've thought that a "Cup Car" was a special edition that included cupholders
I drive 50 miles each way to work and leave the house at 5:45........I NEED a cup of some caffeine on the way.
A couple of good suggestions here, thanks........although the pic of that hairy hand holding the cup gave me a flashback to the "hand" from the Aadams Family......snap, snap
I second the motion on the "ultimate cupholder". It's cheap and on the floor so you don't have to look at it, and when you take that corner fast the splash won't go all over your dash.
I too leave early (5:20 AM) and drive 65 Km each way to a train station. I do need my caffeine but have huge remorse about driving with a coffee. So I take the safe approach and buy a medium size coffee instead of a super duper xxx large size and I do gulp it before I hit the highway.(mom would dissaprove and likely slap me on the back of the head).
Now what about getting a camel-back like cyclists and putting it on the back of the driver seat...that might work !!! Much safe than the 3 rd radiator...would be drinking collant liquid by mistake.
Now I do love the cup holder as handcuffs....
no cupholders in the "CUP" car only in my nice cushy 996 w/pss-9's (rides like a caddy compaired to the setup on the 964)
The one from tweeks works pretty well - i like the bird arm rest thing too.
Either way - enjoy and be safe with your hot drinks
Note to self......book trip to Sweden, bring Trojans (I wonder how many USC buddies I could get into a Porsche)
For an unpopular subject, this sure gets a lot of attention.......I think Porsche owners are getting soft
Yeh.. yeh. But who drinks coffee on a coffee table? I thought they were for magazines.
BTW I ordered one as a result of this thread. shifting into 2nd while holding a cup is a challenge. Now you tip guys... well that's another thread.
Prolly the only time rob and I will ever be on the same page on anything......
my commute on mondays and fridays is 120 miles one way.....I need my coffee, especially on monday morning.....I put in the bird storage/arm rest and got the optional fold out cup holder. It works great and no one ever sees it.
And if that doesn't work here's something else to try:
Heirloom Cup Holder
According to one review (Lisa from Cleveland Ohio) she couldn't believe the quality for the price. It mounted easily. And she also bought the matching soap dish. And she gets lots of compliments.
Cheers.
P.s. Sorry couldn't help myself...

Seems to work pretty good......but haven't gone to full boost with a glass loaded.....one of the potential hazards of buying a TT
