Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am looking for a 996TT and I wonder how higher gas prices will affect prices of the 996TT? Do people buying these cars generally don't give a rat's *** about gas prices?
TT gas mileage really isn't that bad (21.5 mi/gal in mixed city/hwy driving). But yes, if you can afford the car plus maintenance, gas prices should be noise.
Now as far as affecting value, what will happen is the the HP wars will end, new cars will be downsized and high HP cars will be MORE valuable, just like what happened in the 70s.....nobody was buying Vegas, Pacers, or Pintos......we were getting old High power Mustangs, Camaros, etc.
Just the cost of owning a car. BTW, gas is going nowhere close to $5 a gallon now or in the forseable future. Take a look around, prices are already rescinding back below the $3 they were at during the recent crises we have experienced. Spend $80K+ for a car and worry about a few more cents on the price of gas is not a logical argument to make. Get a prius if you are worried about getting better MPG.
Well it's much better the V12 Biturbo thats for sure, and really if you can spend the $$ on the car, then , the more then average fuel usage shouldn't be a factor, granted we ALL hate paying too much for fuel, but here in Canada you cant buy a liter of water less then a liter of fuel..
The cost of gas is insignificant unless you commute 100 miles every day. Think about depreciation, insurance, maintenance, upgrades, etc. Heck, I spend as much on tires as gas! I don't see anyone modding their cars in order to get better gas mileage. It's always more horsepower, which you guessed it, uses more gas. You need to think about your car in terms of smiles per dollar, not miles per gallon.
1. rise in gas price has eroded demand -- people are driving less, buying more efficient cars.
2. gas price probly won't keep shooting up in the short term -- don't be a fool waiting for TT price to drop due to gas price
3. 996tt price WILL drop when 997TT is out. Also winter won't help depreciation.
Bottom line, if you are willing to wait, buying a 996tt at year end or early 2006 will be good. However, you'll miss out on fun for a few more months.
Actually, it is a quote from Dave Allison's dashboard, and it is ON the porch, refers to a pack of dogs running the neighborhood and the local mutt staying on the safety of the front porch to avoid injury. Damn, we're bored today. BTW went to DC this wknd, nice visit.
I wish gas prices would hit $10/gallon then the road would be free of zombie assclowns driving wretched domestic vehicles without insurance, muuuwwaahhh.
Chris,
Ah, that makes sense. I saw it on a T-Shirt where there were some big mean dogs ON the porch and the little **** ant dog walking buy was shaking........it read "If you can't hang with the big dogs, stay off the porch.
Semantics.
Rob, totally agree with you on that one!
it makes me sick when i hear people asking this kind of questions....
