Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I good installer will spend 6-10 hours (depending on 1 man or a team) on the install and use the best product on the market.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was at the Infiniti dealership checking out an FX45 and noticed that they had an option for some sort of clear vinyl protective coating for the front and rear bumpers (clearbra?). Yes, I know this is a Porsche forum, but I was thinking that wasn't such a bad idea for a car. The finish and fit looked pretty spectacular and I love the idea of protecting my bumpers from negligent drivers/parkers in New York City...even in my parking garage.
I have a vested interest because my car's front bumper is currently being repainted as a result of said negligence in said parking garage. As it was just some chipped paint rather than a dented bumper, I think that the 'clearbra' might have saved me the trouble.
Have any of you ever used this sort of thing? If so, how was your experience? Are there any dealers in particular that do a really great job of it for the 991. To that end, is it blasphemy to even do this to a 911?
Thanks,,
Edward
Far from inappropriate on a Porsche, that is exactly the type of vehicle this stuff was originally designed for. The best products available right now are made by Venture Tape and 3M. There are issues with all of the other brands. Ask what brand the installer is using because there is a big difference. I have a 2002 Audi with 40K miles on it that has a basically unblemiished bumper after 2.5 years driving in Ohio including the winters. I view it as a must have. JMO.
I have the 3M Armorfend kit on my GT3 and have been extremely happy with it.
After 5k miles and 4 track days it still looks great. There are marks in the clear film but it protected the paint exactly as designed.
This is one thing where the installer matters SO much. It will either be virtually invisible or look like crap depending on the skill of the installer.
Have to echo that as well. You get what you pay for. If you are paying $250 for a full install you are not going to be happy with the product. I good installer will spend 6-10 hours (depending on 1 man or a team) on the install and use the best product on the market.
