Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I replaced my shocks on my 117K mile 325XI and found this on my rear springs like below. I just took pics below from others on the E46 fanatics forum and they are not mine. My rear springs all broke at the same place so the rear sits at the same height. Its a common problem due to drainage issued on the spring pad and the way it sits on the shock. Question is: Should I replace the springs? People cut springs to lower height but this will lowers my car perhaps 1/4" to inch at the rear. This is a DD with regular driving. If I never replace shocks, it would have never be found. There are probably many other cars on the road riding on springs like this...

POST 2Original post

No, don't replace them. Just use a little bubble gum to "glue" them back together and you'll be fine! Of course you should replace the springs!!!!!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just ordered Eibach sport springs and will get it installed. The modding never ends...
