0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suspected cause

If at the same time you want to say swap coils around to just in case the connections are ok to see if the misfire follows the coil that's probably a good idea too.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

changed out plugs and coil packs now getting misfire on cylinder #5 car just hit 68000 miles could i have bad coil? got them from ECS turning

POST 2Original post

Bad coil is always a possibility. But more likely you didn't get the # 5 coil connector connected securely to the plug or the wiring harness. Before you replace the # 5 coil I'd advise you double check the coil connections. You sure you torqued the plug in # 5 down correctly? That it is not loose? If at the same time you want to say swap coils around to just in case the connections are ok to see if the misfire follows the coil that's probably a good idea too.

POST 3Original post

I agree with Macster. It's not uncommon for people to not fully seat the connector on the coil. You should hear/feel it snap into place.

POST 6Original post

If connection is good, swap it with the coil next to it and see if the misfire moves. That will determine if you have a bad coil.

POST 8Original post

dielectric grease in the plugs isn't a bad idea either.. not sure if that makes the P cars IMS bearing fail and all.. but its a good practice anytime plugs are used..
