While the engine was out, I went ahead and changed all rubber hoses both coolant and vacuum, resealed oil coolers, did the AOS seal, plugs, tranny flush, break flush, and coolant flush.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well after getting my feet wet with an 83 944 and then a complete 951 rebuild I have taken the plunge and entered the 911 family. Picked up a 2003 996 garage queen with just 40K on the odometer. It's arctic silver and full leather. Then I bit the bullet and had upgraded IMS, RMS, new flywheel and sport clutch added. While the engine was out, I went ahead and changed all rubber hoses both coolant and vacuum, resealed oil coolers, did the AOS seal, plugs, tranny flush, break flush, and coolant flush. etc. etc.... So far I am very happy with my investment. Brings a smile to my face daily. Only thing I want to do at this point is to lower it a bit. Now for the eye candy.

POST 2Original post

Very nice! Looks and sounds just like my '02. You can go to bumperplugs.com for the front holes for the license plate. Stock audio? Plans for upgrades if so.

POST 4Original post

Nice job and welcome! Who did the service work?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I went to see Denny at Konig in Oceanside. bumper plugs on the list for sure and as far as the stereo goes, I dug out about a hundred CD's i never thought i would use again ipod adapter eventually

POST 7Original post

See? Pics with the first post. Newbies, look and learn - that's how it's done. Another addition to the San Diego crew. Aux input cable for the stereo is a $10 and 10 minute mod.

Hey Bterry, small world! Denny at Konig has been doing all the service work on my '03 996. I did pretty much the same stuff as you when I bought it (IMSB, RMS, hoses, AOS, tranny flush, misc.). I also swapped out the OEM audio with a double DIN system with integrated phone, satellite, Nav, CD/DVD, iPod, etc. I can give you recommendations for good shops for audio work if you want. I'm assuming you're in North County?

POST 10Original post

Congrats! It's to see another SD member. Here's the cheap radio mod. It worked great on my car: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...02-996-c2.html

POST 11Original post

Congratulations and welcome, it looks like you got a nice example. When your ready to lower it we have a few different options, for more information Click Here . Enjoy

POST 12Original post

Very nice, those are the best wheels for the 996 in my opinion. Add a sport suspension and it will be perfect.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey Mike (Cuda). I'm in Encinitas by the YMCA. No plans to switch the stereo right now, I'm just glad to have creature comforts not available in my 951. when i do i will let you know. thanks all for the many kind words. looking forward to help from the community! Brian

POST 14Original post

OK, yep, I know the YMCA... used to take my kids there. We are building up a good North County presence! Another RLer in Fallbrook just got a 996. Yeah, that's one thing I love about the 996... good creature comforts for daily driver usage! If you're not yet a member of PCA-San Diego Region, sign up.. lots of great social events. The new officer installation dinner is tomorrow at the Catamaran Resort in Mission Bay... still time to sign up!

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

already a member might have to pass on tomorrow, i am sick as a dog with a head cold.... I'll be at something soon though. more than likely the next coffee and cars in Carlsbad

POST 16Original post

OK, see ya there! I had that crappy cold that's going around last week.
