Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking for a recommendation on a "GOOD" tint shop from South Florida guys in Miami. I need to have old CRAP tints removed and new tints installed. I have seen my share of **** poor jobs down here and acually have seen a buddies Porsche leather interior ruined in the removal process by the liquids used. I am thinking of going dark matte color since the car extrior color is silver with a dark interior and I like the contrast. I was thinking maybe 5%? I have 13% on my black Merc now and wish I had gone darker. My prior car a Volvo C70 ended up with two 15% so what does that make it 7.5%? Oh, yes I know the legal limit in FL but hey 28% is too light so if I am going to go illegal the cop is not going to cut me a break on the ticket for being just a little "illegal", LOL. Also, anyone using the ceramics? Are they really worth 2x - 3x the price?

POST 2Original post

I heard that for removal all you need to do is spray the tint with water, put a thrash bag on top and put the car under the sun and the condensation should lift the film right out...

I have searched around Miami as well, and about 4-5 years ago, there was a Huper Optik installer near me, but now they're gone. Every other shop ( 2) that I went to doesn't do ceramic tints, just 3M, which should also be very good quality. The thing I like about HO, is the tint is a slight mirror but then also a bit smoke and definitely not too dark, which would look good on a Silver Pcar; I'm not a fan of the too dark tints, because they do effect night vision. other wise, I 'll go au natural.
