This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

If 2001 or newer, with electronic release, you should locate the manual "emergency" release cable, behind the plastic liner in front of the right front wheel, make sure that it works and route it so that you can reach it easier before you lock the frunk with the battery disconnected/out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

why dont i just take the battery out instead of trickle charging it? I dont mind losing my stereo settings (time, channels), but will it effect anything else? how will i be able to open the hood again when time comes to put the battery back in? i'd rather just store the battery in my house than trickle it in the car. but i want the car to be locked.

POST 2Original post

What year? If 2001 or newer, with electronic release, you should locate the manual "emergency" release cable, behind the plastic liner in front of the right front wheel, make sure that it works and route it so that you can reach it easier before you lock the frunk with the battery disconnected/out. If 1999-00 with cable release. You could check to see if you can manually lock the car with the key while the battery is disconnected and still use the lever to operate the frunk lock. With the battery disconnected the locking bar should not slide into 'lever lock' position when you use the key to lock the door. Open the driver's window and the frunk, LEAVE THE FRUNK OPEN, disconnect the battery neg wire and isolate it from the battery post, LEAVE THE FRUNK OPEN, lock the car with the key, LEAVE THE FRUNK OPEN. Reach in through the window and see if the lever will still activate the frunk lock.

POST 3Original post

Still not sure why a reference is made to a "frunk" in a 911 forum. There's only one trunk, which happens to be in the front of the car. Just wondering.

POST 5Original post

Re your original question, your battery doesn't care if it's in your bedroom, basement, garage or car. A battery taken out of service will loose about 1% of it's charge per day. It will get to a point of low charge and start to irreversably start to self destruct, sulphate. The only way to keep this from happening is to put it on a maintainer like a Battery Tender. These unlike a trickle charger don't have to be monitored and will not, in time overcharge the battery.

Get boxers, they are looser then briefs and don't get as tight when they get twisted. No power in the garage, from his other thread on this subject. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...e-battery.html
