Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 99 Carrera Cab. The plastic rear window is still in pretty good shape but it has some scratches and a couple of small cloudy areas. Has anybody got any suggestions on products they have used to treat/preserve/remove scratches? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers, Scott

POST 2Original post

Porsche actually makes a polish for the top that I picked up at the dealer when I used to have my 944 cabrio. It worked pretty well and a little went a long way. I don't remember the price or part # but could look it up if you need it.

POST 3Original post

I used Hindsight's Plastic Polish, Cleaner & Restorer which you can order here: http://www.hindsightuk.com/ I used it on my 964 with very good result. It took a lot of time but was well worth it in the end.

POST 4Original post

When I sold my '99 Cab w/61k miles last June the original plastic window still looked like it was new. I'd use Meguiars Mirror Glaze clear plastic cleaner and polish, #s 17 and 10 a couple of times a year. One removes road grime and such, the other removes fine scratches and makes the window crystal clear. I never parked my car in the sun if I could help it, as sun damages everything and it cannot be undone.

POST 5Original post

The stuff to use is Novus. It works great on taking away yellowing, etc. I have seen it completely restore boat dodgers back to really nice shape after they have been deemed nearly gone due to yellowing, clouding and scratching. I am going to be using it on my cab in the next week or so. http://www.amazon.com/Novus-Polish-P.../dp/B0000WUC7E

POST 6Original post

I have used Meguiars "PlastX" product on my '99 cab rear window. Works OK, but not great results, even with significant rubbing. Also, It seems like it lasts a few months, they you have to reapply, which makes me think it just fills in the scratches rather than removing them.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the excellent info guys. Very much appreciated.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I went to the dealer today and picked up some Porsche Tequipment Polyglas Polish. I cleaned up the rear window earlier this evening. The stuff is amazing. It cleaned up the scratches and removed a couple of the small cloudy areas. The window looks great and it was only $10. Probably the cheapest purchase I've ever made at the dealer! Thanks fpena944 for the tip.

POST 10Original post

Plexus. I use it on all my motorcycle windshields.

POST 11Original post

All these products work fairly well. I used them on a MB SL rear window and it made a significant improvement in rearward visibility.
