I guess shocks fail too, but you can check the drop link in 5-10 minutes

I bought some used M030s (still sitting in the garage) but the seller wasn't sure if they were US or RoW.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi folks...,
For a few weeks now i can here a ''clunk clunk'' from the right front wheel of my 2000 c4 equipped with the optional m030 suspension.
The A arm was shot so i replaced it but the problem is still there.
Finally i went to the dealer and the problem is the shock absorber ''strut assembly''itself.
Do you know guys where i could found new ones at a reasonable price...dealer OEM part is really expensive.I can't figure to pay more then 1k for 2 front shocks.
Thanks
Robert
2000 c4
Heck Robert..for 1K you could purchase a complete ROW M030 (frt / rear struts, springs and sways) from Sunset. (Do you have US M030 or ROW?). It might be tough to find just the one shock you need. Maybe someone could chime for the part # of shock itself. They are Bilstien's and you could search from there. A single shock should be around a couple hundred.
Thanks Pete!
I do not know what mean ROW!!!Sorry...
The part number should be 996 343 041 17
The one i found online were Bilstien but my shock is black and the Bilstein i found are yellow and worth around $400.00 ea and more...what does that mean...
Thanks
Robert
Row refers to 'rest of the world' as opposed to the US specific setup. With the part number in hand, I would just contact sunset Porsche and get a quote. It's likely to be your least expensive option.
have you checked the drop links? its easy to check and pretty common to be the cause of clunking..
I guess shocks fail too, but you can check the drop link in 5-10 minutes
Question for ya's then....how do you tell the difference between US and RoW ? And, is the difference only to do with the springs or with the strut/shock assembly ? I bought some used M030s (still sitting in the garage) but the seller wasn't sure if they were US or RoW. He did say they lowered his car by about a half inch.
