Suggestion

That appears to be a factory casing, I think it's more likely that either the internals were replaced with something or they sold a used mount after cleaning/respraying.

The right side of the engine dropped by at least 4 to 5 inches....and one of the two the bolts that maintain the engine mount in place snap in his hole....i had to drill off the bolt and replaced the engine mount...Easy to say but not as easy to do believe me....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello folks... Look what happened to my engine motor mount yesterday. Last year i bought these brand new motor mount on Ebay and i never realized that they were not original. No part number on it so ....(they are certainly from China...) When this happened i hered a bang from the back...i immediately tought...''ho no! not the IMS.... The right side of the engine dropped by at least 4 to 5 inches....and one of the two the bolts that maintain the engine mount in place snap in his hole....i had to drill off the bolt and replaced the engine mount...Easy to say but not as easy to do believe me.... Immagine if the second Engine mount brake...the engine would right away fall on the street....what a mess... So lesson to remember before to buy on Ebay or anywhere else be sure you are looking for OEM part...maybe more expensive but believe me it worth the money Robert 2000 C4 Iris Blue Pearl

POST 3Original post

That appears to be a factory casing, I think it's more likely that either the internals were replaced with something or they sold a used mount after cleaning/respraying. This sort of thing obviously shouldn't happen but yes you're lucky it was just one side...

POST 4Original post

Factory motor mounts are fluid filled not solid (except for the GTx cars). You got a knock-off. There are some things that OEM or ODM (Original Design Manufacturer, like Brembo or Bilstein, etc.) are the only parts to get.

POST 5Original post

I would buy from dealer or pelican parts critical parts. That's the lesson learned. Glad your engine suffered no road-rash!
