Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I am Friend's with a group of guys a few race, yahda yahda. I have read several threads... but, still dont have a clear idea what to buy? They have asked me to help them research the absolute , best.. They have a working shop and really do not care about the expense.. within some reason, I suppose?? They need reliable equipment for repeat use. Jacks, Jack adapters, maybe like Pelican's, etc. Also for the trans??? They mostly work on 993 Air cars and 996's and 997's. After reading many threads... I still don't know if I can say...DEFINITIVELY, Pass Go... and get... this exact Jack with this exact adapter and this gizmo from here or there? I know These guys have a Low Height Scissor lift to get the cars in the air... but they want whatever the true Porsche Shop's use? Can anyone say... what are the best choices for the cars they get frequently.. or is it hit and miss time? Any good advise appreciated. Thanks, Buzz

I too am friends with a group of guys, some girls too. Well not so much the girls but one talked to me once. Some race, some don't, two use a lot of makeup, one has size 16 shoes. Some don't wear any makeup. Two wear flannel a lot and play some air guitar. Some have tools, but not real good ones, and they like to work on cars, some Porsches, one read a book once. Three have brass hammers with wooden handles, when they use them it is hit or miss time. One has a broken thumb. One of the girls has blue eyes and red hair. She runs with scissors. I like the blond with almost all of her teeth. She is the absolute best. I'd deifinitively like to, pass go, & hit that miss. Should I get her some craftsman tools and a compressor? Advice??

Well, I thought I was being thorough.. LOL,. Sorry,. Ill tighten it up a bit. Still wondering if there is a one solution Floor Jacks that really works for application listed... Glad I could provide a few laughs... FYI... I think the one with no teeth... might race too?? Buzz

POST 16Original post

if I was pulling more than (1) motor I would NOT USE a floor jack but a lift If you want to know what to place the motor on - get a transmission jack and a 1"thick piece of plywood... bolt it to the tranny jack and drill holes to accept the motor points and a strap if you need to keep it on the jack I have to admit I am still not sure what you are trying to do

POST 17Original post

Get a good two post lift for easy access. Examples: http://www.gesusa.com/Two-Post-Lifts-s/25.htm Get a quality transmission jack to lower the engine or trans or engine & trans assy. http://www.gesusa.com/Transmission-Jacks-s/69.htm If they are going to work with floor jacks tell them to get good ones US made Lincoln or Dutch (I think) AC etc... http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...yd1-detail.htm

Thanks... exactly what we're looking for. My partners are more racers than mechanics for sure... but we will all learn. Thanks again, Buzz a.k.a. (too much info dude)

I know that lift. I also got a 1000LBS lifting table and added some 1" plywood to make my own "factory" lifting table. I should be able to drop an engine and trans on it without issues. I will tell the factory tables make it really nice to drop an engine.
