Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

51 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

UPS brought my FisterD's today so I just installed them and Fabspeed tips. Still need to adjust the tips a bit but the exhaust sounds awesome! Nice when you are "on it" but mellow at cruise. So far I am pleased.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pics tomorrow, too dark! Fisters are a damn good "bang for the buck"

POST 5Original post

Awesome Marc...welcome to the 'sound' club. I love the sound my 99 911 makes now over stock. You've been busy lately.

POST 7Original post

next your gonna say you called LNE and have parts coming.....

POST 8Original post

Im very happy with my fabspeeds...If I didnt have them Id certainly go with fisters......all this being said after my bypass pipes mistake....what a racket!!

POST 11Original post

what is the price difference and loudness factor between both exhaust ? did you upgrade the cans or the whole header, cat, cans things ? I'd like something a little more vocal on my stock 996... but still on the fence about it. and last one: did you install yourself ?

POST 12Original post

Marc, congrats! The best part is that your modded cans will actually sound better (louder) after about 300 to 500 miles, once the new pipe gets seasoned a little. Reply #2: Damn, Marc installed them the same day he got them? The Devil is probably really pissed off right now because Hell has frozen over!

POST 13Original post

I installed my Fister modded exhaust in the winter and they got a bit louder after a couple of months. Now that springtime top-down driving weather is here they sound just about perfect!

22F 28R 915's (not g50's) any odd body parts that dont fit and a set of H4's (painted, not chrome) OH I forgot to mention... found out I have turbo tie rods new motor mounts came today (club sport) Wevo should be here soon

POST 17Original post

Its intersting to me that you guys say these babies get seasoned and sound better after some miles. Why would that be? I have put close to a thousand miles on my cans after the hack and they sound the same. Bitchin for sure but exactly the same. What am I not getting?

POST 18Original post

Did you go with the Stage 1 (2.25" pipe from unused port to outflow pipe) or Stage 2 (1.5" bypass pipe between inflow and outflow pipes)? Darin says Stage 2 is louder.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7468111

It IS colder and I even drove my 996 to work in the...gasp! Rain!

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7468314

I Will be on the prowl for those at hershey... and of course a giant wing that wont fit your car. also, with the H4's you can get a paintable trim ring that goes over the chrome.

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7468365

I would assume stage 1 and it's loud enough for me, and my neighbors.

POST 22Original post

oic man - I have much to learn, looks like a weekend of "head in the trunk" looking for a vacuum leak planned - and a birthday party for my son

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7467757

Just the "cans" the modded mufflers are $225/exchange and yes I installed them myself.

POST 24Original post

Especially after my recent adventure w/ the Cayenne exhaust system (Cargraphics from the cats back and a noise ticket 48 hours later). I really have to say that the DIY muffler hack is awesome. Not only does it sound great, but it has a very progressive volume that only gets really angry at WOT. Best bang 4 the buck 4 sure!

I installed mine this winter, and mine sound louder...but I'm now opening the windows and sunroof as the temps. get warmer.

How old will your son be Ed? What do you think is the issue with your vacuum leak, what is it effecting?

POST 27Original post

he turned 12 on Easter my other son turns 11 this coming Wednesday its a busy month for us - in fact the track day is the 17th and I am trying like hell to get everything done so I can go vacuum leak, see my thread "rough idle" in the air cooled 911 forum.... it will do you good to get out of this room awhile and see the "outside" anyhow

POST 28Original post

POST 31Original post

C'mon Mark let's see some pics! It's sunny in Northern Delaware. It must be at least partly sunny where you are!

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok!! crappy Blackberry pic! I need to adjust the tips, got dark before I was done last night.

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will take some better pics, the tips look pretty damn cool Drivers side needs to be adjusted though

POST 36 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sound like fisterd's! I no longer need a stereo. Love the sound!

POST 38Original post

Me likey the tips.....you also have me thinking about the FisterD's. Is it a little raspier than the fabspeed cans? Be great if you could post a sound bite.

POST 39Original post

Quotes source post: 7468111

He, a classic Tim-ism..... Sounds good Marc, pun intended, ha. Also the tips look great, isn't it cool to have a new exhaust sound and look, good stuff!

Marc, I just found this post. I'm glad you are happy with the end product. You actually have my Stage II modification. It is the only one I do anymore. It sounds great on 996 (3.4-3.6) and 997 cans. Now if you just would have gotten the ceramic coating Darin

POST 50Original post

Quotes source post: 7472323

Interesting, ceramic coating.... is that for heat? or sound? what is its purpose?

POST 51Original post

Quotes source posts: 7472394, 7472457

In looks, but not in sound. It helps control the radiant heat that the mufflers produce. The outside can get a bit corroded over time, as well. They are media blasted and the ceramic coated. This also gives the exterior new life and will help with the mufflers longevity. There are 4 color choices, although black is my favorite.
