Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have just installed a new [aftermarket] regulator via instructions here and at renntech. Not a hard task at all. But, I find that the travel downward is short by ~2 inches. Up stop is good as is fore/aft in the channels. I have looked via searches here/there, but can't seem to locate a procedure to adjust the lower stop. I notice a strange screw on each of the window clamps which would move the clamp up or down. Is that the vertical adjustment? It is in the most upward position. It looks like a reverse [male] Torx screw. If I move the clamps down via that, won't it also affect the top stop? thanks todd 99 coupe

POST 2Original post

Where did you find an aftermarket regulator, and why did you choose that over a genuine Porsche part? I'm just curious becuase I am getting ready to do this same job on my 996.

POST 3Original post

There's a stop at the bottom of the regulator channel that needs to be removed. I think I had to remove the whole assembly in order to remove it.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought the aftermarket part because it seems to be at least the same quality as the OEM [and less costly at $120]. Still has plastic rollers as does the OEM part. Some of the other parts appear higher quality. The aftermarket mfgr has been making them for a long time, just recently for Boxster and 996 per the source. If the OEM part was know to be good, I'd have stuck with that. But since they are marginal to begin with . . . I will go see if there is an apparent stop I failed to see. Maybe the stop is there for the Boxster's range of movement? thx todd 99 coupe

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There were two stops at the bottom of the front guide rail attached with a phillips screw easily accessible with the regulator in the car. I assume the upper one is for the Boxster. see pic thanks todd 99 coupe
