I recently had my cat converter replaced on my 2003 C4S. I now have a metallic rattle at the tail pipe and a vibration at idle with it in gear. The dealer in Nashville told me the exhaust system isn't touched when replacing the converter? Make sense? Thank you, David

the cat is part of te exhaust system. to replace the cat, the muffler is moved to make room for cat removal. have them check clamps and bolts that hold the muffler and car. the heat shield around the muffler can be touching the muffler causing the rattle. why is the cat replaced? just out of curiousity

I know this sounds odd, but check for little rocks in your exhaust or jammed in the seams of your exhaust pipe. I had my cats replaced, and then I picked up a similar sounding sound (at least from your description). I thought "great," something else wrong with the cats. But, when I banged around on them with my fist, a little piece of gravel came out, and the sound went away. I was amazed at how much noise this little piece of gravel made.
