Suggestion
Just wondering as I know that your smog standards are ludicrous compared to anywhere else in the world...unless you know how to swap the stuff out, clear and reset the CEL codes to ready, etc, I would be weary of messing with the emission controls in your car unless it is solely an off road/track car.

usually running an 02 sensor straight to the outside won't work b/c its supposed to pick up SOME smog.

in my search for max NA996 performance i am considering cat bypass pipes but my social conscience is holding me back. does anyone know how clean burning the motor is?
i've read that the cel will be triggered but does not affect drivability or performance.
i can go with 100 cell cats but they're 3x as much.
you can refer to some of the european websites for a more detailed analysis, they tend to worry more about emissions.

no, emissions is measured by how much pollutant a car puts out over a mile or a kilometer.
300grams is not bad at all. the 996s classify as LEV's - low emission vehicles.
however, there are even lower ones out there, hybrids/etc.

my $.02
i can live with the cel codes and actually have been living with it due to emissions code (secondary air/smog pump not working properly). i have a scanner that will clear them. what i can't live with is if it is a gross polluter if i put on the cat bypass.
getting the car smogged this week and will need top be smogged every two years. it's easy enough to swap them out before the smog check.
A race technician told me that the way to fool the light is simple. PLEASE CORRECT ME if someone had tried this and did not work.
This is with the cat bypass pipes like fabspeeds that still have the first socket for the O2 sensor and the second socket(aft of the cat) plugged. As there are two cats on the 911, I'm just gonna talk about 1 side/do the same on the other. The system will think that it's sampling the cleanest exhaust ever.

Well if it's similar to the GT3 I have my cat bypass on and all sensors were hooked up accordingly and yes at 1st started up it lit the CEL but reset it and has never gone on. I didn't have to plug the o2 sensor outside at all. Regards. Mike
