BTW, I think you've got to factor that IMS change into the equation ..

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

First post and hopefully will own one in the stable soon....
2 owners, Don't have the exact option list but I know it has PSM, heated/power seat, hard top, CD player or changer, factory aero kit, 6 speed, 69,xxx miles and asking $28k. Seems it's firm price, not willing to negotiate. Car appears in great shape, at least from interior, trunk lining looks new. RMS, clutch and IMS bearing seals were changed about 4 years ago.
1, price check, if anyone has a sense about the current market, pls comment on the price. I feel fairly comfortable with the current owner, who drives the car properly and maintained the car at porsche dealers. They bot it off auction about 4 years ago. I think that half of the working of buying cars like 911 is to pick the right owners and I think they are.
2. Anyone can please recommend a PPI place near Harrisburg, PA, other than dealership?
Many thanks.
Rich
I remember seeing the car on the net for sale, It looks pretty nice.
Fosters automotive in mechanicsburg works on p-cars and also does the ppi. Dwight is the owner and is an alignment specialist too.
You can call [phone removed], justin may also answer the phone.

I have had an alignment and wheel balancing done by him on my old boxster and was very satisfied. He does take a little bit longer than usual, but then again, you don't want him to rush anything.

I wouldn't trust sun motors, but that's just me.

Due diligence prior to purchase is appropriate regardless of the source. There can be events in the past or issues with the car that the most honest current owner may know nothing about.
I wasn't saying to not get a ppi, i was saying sun motors, the Porsche dealership would not get my business and i would prefer someone else over them.
90% of the time i'd get a ppi on a porsche that i'm going to buy.
One thing re: mileage that is worth bearing in mind ... and something I thought about when buying my cab.
This car has 69K. As you are in PA, good chance this would be a summer driver. So, I'm guessing you'll put 3-5K a year on it. So you've got a good 6+ years before you even sniff 100K
If you are buying this as a daily driver in say TX, FL, CA, you'll be up against 100K pretty quick, maybe 2-3 years.
Used as a summer driver the depreciation slows somewhat if the year/mileage are primary cost drivers ... I'm not saying that should be a decisive factor, but it's worth noting.
A 2003 with 100,000 miles on it in 2013 is a different value car than the same 78,000 in 2013.

BTW, I think you've got to factor that IMS change into the equation .. that's a huge "insurance" policy. I certainly would have gone 2-3K higher if that work was done.
$28K is a good price if it checks out. NADA says Clean Retail is 33K. I'm wondering why the asking price so cheap given it's at a P dealer. They usually want a premium.
Get the PPI and if everything checks out you probably have a good buy.
from what i can tell it's a private party sale. The sun motors reference was to ddl24 who mentioned sun motor cars since they are the local p-car dealer for the ppi.
I could have sworn the desciption was much longer than it is currently.
