Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am trying to sell a 99 C4 with it and the horn chirps every time I set the alarm/lock the doors.
Leading evidence: 'Set alarm/lock the doors' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set alarm/lock the doors' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Suggestion
This was easy to use to "force" (don't have to use much) the sensor to register "closed" since the wood didn't move, while my rubber plug evidently did.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Will the bird armrest cause the alarm to beep when set because of the car thinking the console is open? Is there a mod that has to be done to correct this? I am trying to sell a 99 C4 with it and the horn chirps every time I set the alarm/lock the doors. I have no other experience with the Bird cupholder/armrest.
Thanks.
You have to lock your stock console and then you can remove it. My bird armrest came with a plastic plug for the stock lock. The stock lock cylinder pulls right out. Here's how it looks with the plug.
I had the same problem when I installed mine.
My solution was to remove the pin you installed in the original catch mechanism, and remove the little rubber plug that was put in to keep the sensor "fooled". I then took a dremel tool and drilled a small hole in the original catch mechanism and slid a very small finish nail into the hole to act as a "door bar" ,ie. the latch could no longer unlatch 'cause the brad wouldn't let it. I found that as I moved the metal drink holder around, that action in the old lock hole was enough to activate the release mechanism for the original console latch. This bar prevents it from ever releasing even though it may want to due to cup holder base movement!
While I had this open I also cut a few small wood shims to place over the sensor. This was easy to use to "force" (don't have to use much) the sensor to register "closed" since the wood didn't move, while my rubber plug evidently did.
The whole unit is back to OPS Normal, and I'd buy another armrest in a second if I got a new car. It's a great and well thought out addition.
I forgot all about the little rubber plug that "fools" the alarm into thinking it's closed. That's where you need to check, I remember it was little tricky getting it positioned properly.
Sorry for reviving a, well, 9 year old (!!!) thread, but I just installed this today, and yes, my alarm is chirping when I lock/set it. I haven't actually decided if this is a bad thing, though, I kind of like the audible feedback to confirm the alarm is set.
To get back to the suggestion above, do I understand that to fix this problem, I would just need to bridge the wires leading to the oddments compartment lock/latch?
