Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Anyway, if you still want to make sure they won't actuate, you can pull the fuse or disconnect the harness to the motor (in the drivers side front fender, behind the liner towards the door, near the bottom).
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect harness' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect harness' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The stalk setting for washing the windshield is back at you on the horizontal plane and the headlights is engaged by moving the stalk forward.

If I'm not mistaking the headlight washers are activated when you've got your fog lights or high beams on while using the wind shield washer.

The stalk direction that you use for the wipers is on the vertical plane.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I accidently hit the headlight washers and the chrome caps blew off. Is there any way to disable them and prevent this from costing another hundred bucks! What a stupid design!!!
Larry
Sorry, I should have said the headlamps are on an 02 with litronic headlamps. The pop up washers have chrome caps. When the washers pop, and the cap sets sail!
Larry
The headlight washers are actuated differently than the windshield washer, just don't push the stalk forward. The caps should not fly off (and I'd be surprised if replacement cost was more than a few bucks), yours were probably cracked. Anyway, if you still want to make sure they won't actuate, you can pull the fuse or disconnect the harness to the motor (in the drivers side front fender, behind the liner towards the door, near the bottom).
Nope. They are strictly a manual operation (independent of anything else engaged or not) and will only work when you have your headlights on (high or low).
Been there, done that. I looked at disabling them as well, but it wasn't obvious so now I just don't push the lever forward at speed.
Who needs headlight washers anyway? I notice the GT3 Litronics don't have them. Just another reason to get a GT3 I guess....
The standard lights don't so the GT3 you saw didn't have the optional bi-xenons. The bi-xenons were only on the 2002+ models. The easiest way to tell if a 02+ car has the uptional bi-xenon lights is if they have the headlight washers.
If you had the optional lights on the 99-01 models you had fixed washers which look ridiculous IMHO (pic from another RL'er avatar).
02+ does NOT have what Porsche calls litronics. The 99-01 are litronics. The 02+ are not called litronics.
With that said, the ones you see in the GT3RS you pictured are not the optional bi-xenon with dynamic leveling and headlight washers. That was a $1090 option. Nobody said they were halogen. They just aren't bi-xenon.
how do you know those aren't halogens? They're projector headlamps which share common lens between the xenons and halogen.....
IIRC it's law to have headlamp washers for HID headlamps in EU

Had one of mine cracked/broken at the bodyshop when they painted the tech-art headlight masks and washer cover
... cost me a close to a 100 bucks for the set as well (P. dealer).
Lets face it, it's not the kind of thing ya wanne be driving around with when missing... so instead of waiting for at least a week to get a cheaper set send to me I just ended up paying the inflated price at Canadian dealers... and have it painted again!
Guys, it's not hard. Take a quick look at the manual and it will explain how they work. The stalk direction that you use for the wipers is on the vertical plane. The stalk setting for washing the windshield is back at you on the horizontal plane and the headlights is engaged by moving the stalk forward. Further, the forward press will only activate if the headlights (high or low) are on.
