Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The cruel truth was found when the bearing was cleaned and taken apart.
Leading evidence: 'Clean cruel truth was found' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check &' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm happy to say that my car is 'back on deck' after being a foot or so above it for the last month and a bit while I tackled a bunch of jobs on the car.
I've had the car running and just driven around the block a few times through the day to get the engine up to temp and get the coolant system bleeding process underway. Everything sounds good & runs smoothly. Exhaust mod sounds good but I haven't had a chance to open her up properly yet.
While the car was on stands I got the following done.
AOS replacement inc seals on AOS hoses
IMS replaced
RMS replaced
New Clutch / pressure plate & throw out bearing
Engine oil & filter change
Transmission oil change
Install M030 suspension inc new top mounts & bearings
Replace front & rear stabiliser drop links
Replace motor mounts with RS mounts
Replace coolant tank, cap and coolant.
Check & clean spark plugs & coil packs
Replace heat shields on cam covers
Replace brake lines with stainless steel
Replace caliper to flex-hose hard pipes.
Replace brake fluid with SRF
Replace brake cooling ducts with GT-3 items
Apply & install PSE hack to mufflers (1.5" bypass)
Replace misc seals, clamps, brackets and hardware.
I held off installing the SSK until I have driven it for a while with the RS mounts and Swepco trans oil so I can get a feel for how they are first.
Pic from this morning.
wild guess..... "perfect"
they are almost all perfect until they are not and the deteriation rate is very rapid. Rarely will you find one "going bad" they mostly are great, or in bits and pieces. I have some pics and a vid of one we found going bad though... lucky catch (not to turn this into one of those)
Wow, what an extensive list you've completed, well done. I have found an improvement in cold weather shifting after recently switching to Swepco. Your Porsche should be ready for many trouble free miles.
Hey thanks for all the positive comment. It's been good to tackle a bunch of things in one hit while the weather has been bad. Should be less downtime during driving season as a result . Just got to get myself a top notch alignment at Centre Gravity in Jan and then I should be all set.
Too true I can't wait for some decent driving conditions.
The IMS bearing was fine as Ivangene hinted. I'll post my impressions about the swepco after I have done a few drives from cold starts in particular.
Glad to here that your multiple projects were successful. Your web page is terrific! I referred to it several times during my recent project.
I'm interested in your impression of the new motor mounts. Mine are showing their age and will need replacement.
OZ, I am more than a little impressed with your list. Let me know when you have a little bit of time, and I'll drive my car over.
Your DIY ability is something that we can ALL aspire to.

Nice work OZ, did you dismantle the IMS bearing?
My IMS bearing looked and feeled like new.
The cruel truth was found when the bearing was cleaned and taken apart.
I just got back from my first semi decent road drive and am very happy. Shifting is great, exhaust note is good (loud enough, not too loud, no drone), suspension feels a bit firmer, cabin noise is just a touch noisier but definitely in the realms of acceptable as a daily driver. The weather conditions during the drive were fairly poor so I couldn't really push hard but on a few occasions where the conditions allowed it there were a few twists and a few red line shifts to exercise her a little. It's nice to be back on the road
