POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I test marketed my 2003 on Cragslist for 52K and I just has someone offer 45 although he has not seen it yet. 2003 Carrera 4S Coupe 6 speed 20,000 miles Guards red It is well optioned: 342-heated seats, P74-Bi Xenon Hedlamp package, 446-colored wheel crests, 680-Bose surround sound, 982-Soft ruffled leather seats, 586-Lumbar supports left and right, 425-rear window wiper, P11-self dim mirrors and rain sensor, X71-alum insturment dials, Y06-carbon fiber shifter and brake handle, X70-metal door model insignia, 692-6-disc CD changer, M6A-Porsche black floor mats should I consider this offer seriously or put on autotrader to see if I could get more. If i were to list it on autotrader I was thinking about starting at 50K Thanks

POST 4Original post

IMO it is still worth closer to 50K -as everyone knows it is tough right now and if you have a real buyer that is worth considering.

POST 6Original post

I'm thinking 45k to 48k would be realistic for our low-mile guards red c4s. mine has 25k.

POST 7Original post

Ayayay, 45K? What? hold on now. ****, I'll go $45,099.95 right now A very nice red 03 C4S with 20K miles? IF it is in mint shape with solid maint + paper work, well now... Please, 52K is a good buy for someone in the market looking for low miles/well optioned W/B 50K would already be on the low side If they can't see the deal in that, I'd move on to the next. GL to you

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 5611461

You have to realize that 05+ (997) are getting close to the low 50s range. Not trying to be pessimistic, just being realistic.

POST 9Original post

Market saturation and yes the 997's are starting to get down into the low 50's. There are tons of people selling cars right now. I hate the values are dropping like this, but what can you do. If you "need" to sell then maybe a solid 45k offer is not so bad. if you simply want to sell you might hold our, or reconsider selling.

POST 10Original post

I've been shopping and I think $45K is a fair price for a 2003 C4S. Market is real soft right now . Bad for sellers but great for buyers. Anything in the 50 range, I would be looking at Turbos. I would say your car would be worth between 42 to 46. I saw a 2003 red C4S with similar options including nav. It had higher mileage but dealer was offering $42K and he was willing to throw in a warranty.I passed because of the high mileage. I just walked on two 996 TT deals. One for $46K 2001 which was a bit rough. And one for $55K, clean 2003 with clean PPI and low miles. The 2003 TT I was looking at had less than 30K miles, perfect body and paint. There were no swirl marks whatsoever. Leather seats had no wear,etc... Car was cleaner than any new cars I've bought in the past 6 years (I've bought a new car every year for the past decade). I think it will go down even further as Fall approaches. I expect and hope I can find a '03 996 TT in black with less than 35K miles for $50K around October or November. As things are going now, I think that the offer you got was fair. If I was in the market for a non-turbo 996, your car is ideal for me. I love the widebody and the options. However, I would offer $45K based on the cars I've personally seen in the past. $42-$46K is the absolute range I would consider for a C4S. Here is a 03 C4S with an asking price of $47,500 ( http://www.nohrsauto.com/used-cars.p...780d04704e0e56 ). Sure, it has higher mileage but it comes from a dealership where most people can try to finance. I also bet buyers can probably negotiate further down. A few things I notice. Dealers, sellers are sticking to their prices for now. Then when the next wave of auctions transpire, the prices start to drop. When they drop, they start to drop pretty fast. Case in point, this 2001 TT ( http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/car/754650068.html ) with 30K miles has an asking price of $51988. Too bad it is tiptronic.

POST 11Original post

I agree, the market right now for high end sports cars is very very soft. Unless of course you're trying to sell a 1984-1989 911 with over 100K miles on it, in which case you'll get close to 20K. Why? I have no idea. Could not get a penny over 21K for my 1999 996 with 62K, champion wheels, and very good condition.

POST 12Original post

I bought my 2003 C4S back in March with just under 30k miles for 49,900...and I have been watching prices slip and slide down ever since. If you need a quick sale, take the 45k...even if you can wait, I dont think you will be able to get over 50k...

POST 13Original post

Yeah, people have to realize that these are depreciating assets and they're by no means collector cars -- yet.

POST 14Original post

The area one lives in does plays into things. The low miles ups the price by a nice chunk as well If it had 40-50K miles on it I'd say $45,000 would be more realistic Look at some examples in the Seattle area http://www.parkplaceltd.com/vehicle....rent=1&size=50 http://www.parkplaceltd.com/vehicle....rent=1&size=50 http://www.barriermotors.com/?http:/...rriercombined/ Remember Ms. Greta? https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ight=white+c4s 42-46K range for your C4S is low to me....I would keep it

POST 15Original post

Around Houston it would sell for 47500 at least. Stay strong - preserve our values!!!

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 5611059

You "test-marketed" it? I guess someone else is "test-marketing" you. That's a proven buying technique when buying from a private party. You try to get the seller to agree to a lower price on the very first question. Once the seller has offered a lower price right off the bat, then try to find other things: tires, scratch in paint, brakes, whatever else, to get an even lower price. GL with the sale if you're serious.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope, If I were to accept his offer it's as-is or he is packing. Test market: It does not cost me a cent to post on cragslist. So I posted it a little high just to see if I get any bites. and I have. At least I know. If I posted it for 60 I doubt anyone would call. If I posted it for 40 the phone would be ringing off the hook. I may still decide to post it on Auto Trader for 50 and see where that goes.

POST 18Original post

I've kinda kept track of what people on this board got their C4S's for over the past several months. I was considering trading for one before my engine blew on my C2. Anyway, two that I wrote down at the time were as follows....... 1. 2003 C4S, CPO, nicely optioned, 10,500 miles, the person bought for $52,000 2. 2002 C4s, CPO, 35,000 miles, the person bought it for $42,500

POST 19Original post

HAHA CRAIGSLIST SUCKS, YOU FOUND YOURSELF A GARAGE SALE SHOPPER, TYPICAL DUMBASS OFFERING MONEY HE DOESNT HAVE ON SOMETHING HE HASN'T SEEN. Seriously, do yourself a favor, and tell him to shove off. $10 says he could'nt buy a bicycle......

POST 20Original post

Overall market sucks. I bought my 996 for 10K+ under blue book. I just sold my M3 for about 6K under what it was worth. If you can get close to what you think the car is worth Id take it. It took me 3 months to sell my M3 and I thought I would have sold it in a weekend.

POST 21Original post

I wouldn't trust this offer. Seriously, would you offer $45k without even looking at a car. I'd bet he wasn't serious. We had our car up on autotrader and we got a bunch of low ball offers--just ppl fishing--offers 40% below what we were asking.

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 5613053

Now THAT is a deal.

POST 24Original post

I saw a 60K mile '03 C4S for a $38K BIN on Ebay the other day. It's incredible how much prices have gone down... Obviously yours is a lower mileage car, but $45K is not out of line IMO.

POST 25Original post

you have a beautiful ride, but it is a buyers market right now. i just bought a 2002c4s arctic silver, black full leather near perfect condition 6spd for 35,000...rims are not stock but the are 2 pce gemballa speedline corsa's. however mileage is 55,000 and needs wiper bldes and front brakes and passed ppi. this was in s SoCal area where ther is certainly a glut of nice p-cars. but so far my favorite p-car by far...good luck, hope you get a buyer ,kev

WOW.. any pics? I'd like to see the Gemballa wheels.

POST 27Original post

I cant read this thread anymore... I like to still believe I got a decent deal...

POST 28Original post

IMO you have to find someone willing to pay for low miles and a nice car. I was as I just bought an 03 targa with 16,000 miles. I paid for it but to me it was worth it. I love every mile I put on it.

POST 29Original post

Yes, it just kills me that what I thought was a crazy low price just a few months ago is now just average.

POST 30Original post

Quotes source post: 5613053

Wow... I paid mine $41.7K with 45Kmiles for a 2003, with PSE, GPS, 3M protection film and a bunch of other little stuff... and I thought I was getting the best deal !

POST 31Original post

$42K, for C4S w/ Electronic sport adaptive seats, Thicker steering wheel, Tip, all leather, factory rear spacers, 65K miles. Yes, I definitely lucked out!

POST 32Original post

Quotes source post: 5620348

All is said !!! you paid for what you got ... high miles car !!!

POST 33Original post

Quotes source post: 5620760

The car is a 2004.5...perfect condition...MSRP of over 100K...you think I give a *hit if it has high miles!? For that price I will drop in a new engine and still be below blue book!

POST 34Original post

Quotes source post: 5611059

I know will be an unpopular opinion... but from what I've seen, it's not a very unreasonable offer. You might be able to get a bit more, if the right buyer finds you.

POST 35Original post

$47-48000 if you are patient. IMO and good luck.
