Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Unfortunately, I would have to say, my 996 may be replaced by the same car - S4.

So far I believe the P-car will remain a member of the family, but as I said, life circumstances change so we roll with it as it is.

So while on paper it has more horsepower, its not a sportscar and my old 911 would be able to run circles around it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It had to happen some day - and now it has arrived.
Last day as a proud owner of a P-car for this round.
Tomorrow at 11 am I'm going to change my 2000 C4 coupe for a 2007 Audi S4 cab.
The p-car has driven me 121.000 km now without any hitch, and I would gladly have driven it to 250.000 km.
But the rear seats are now to small for my kids. And there is no way around it (save buying a Cayenne) to get some proper rear seats.
I have very much enjoyed these forums, and learned a lot about my favorite car. But until the Panamera (sp?) comes around or the kids leave the nest - then I'm stuck with other brand cars for now.
Thanks everyone, and I will still hang around the off-topic forums and pay my Rennlist fee, so I'm ready for my next p-car.
Signing off - bye everyone.
Look on the bright side, you could be going to a much worse car than a new Audi S4...it would be up there on my own list of alternatives to a P-car.
Be well & drive safe!
Life circumstances change and I am sure that in between this P-car and your next P-car you'll find worthwhile, valuable, and enjoyable experiences. It was 30 years in between my first Porsche, life events, and my current Porsche. I can remember double jogging strollers and a string of mini-vans and I still smile over the associated memories. Almost done paying for the final and third set of braces and preparing to start paying for college educations. So far I believe the P-car will remain a member of the family, but as I said, life circumstances change so we roll with it as it is.
Best regards
Congratulations on your Audi - great car, too! I hope you'll be back. In the meantime, have a great time with your family, your kids and your Audi.
Bob
didn't Porsche buy the VW/Audi group..or a large stake in it?? So you are actually still driving a P (just a little) and damn an Audi is still better than a Honda!! ( hint hint...trying to get a certain ex P driver to respond)
Nicolaas,
Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing when I read the reply form
mtl911sc
!
Ice_Man, I know how you feel! However, it could be much worse, you could be driving a POS Honda Accord!
Good luck!
Dude I'm 5 7",151lbs @ 6% bodyfat. I fit in the back of the 996,how can you kids not? I'm not saying it was super comfortable but your kids can't be THAT big.
Hang around on the forum.
to be honest Tim...if that is your Honda (white one) life isn't so bad....if you close one eye and squeeze the other to a tiny slid.....your accord looks at a distance like a BMW 5 series...in a dark street with some (okay a lot) of imagination.
Thanks guys - picked it up today, and said goodbye to my 996. Phew - internal tears ran freely.
But the S4 is damn nice really. The V8 is a great engine and pulls very strong. Surprises me a bit, even after having test driven a few.
Will post some pics soon just for the heck of it - but its super nice looking. Has been through the Audi Exclusive program, and gotten medium beige alcantra inserts and stichings in beige too (otherwise black car with black leather).
The modding itch has already started - a nice exhaust system would be in place to make that baby scream a bit more.
But what really makes my day - iPod integration, bluetooth and actually usable nav system. Wont go back to PCM-1 again I can tell you right now ;-)
Anyways - will hang around. Post a pic soon and try to be happy with my new car.
Maybe.....I een had a 928 (about 10 years ago) for about a year...amazing machines..but they don't make them anylonger....so the 996 was the next best thing!! JUST KIDDING!
In the Netherlands the highway patrol was driving carrera's back in the days and I actually wanted to join to be able to drive a Porsche.
That Audi is not a down grade at all!! Damn that is a nice car...and V8....mmmhhh with a 3rd one on the way, might be worth looking into
Beautiful car. I had a young hotshot behind me in the turn lane the other day try to blast around me to put me in my place in his S4. Didn't happen, I think I deflated his bubble a bit. I could see him thrashing as fast as he could through the gears as I slowly pulled away...
Unfortunately, I would have to say, my 996 may be replaced by the same car - S4. Damn solid car and a bit more comfort. Hey, I'm getting old.
Yeah - having driven it now a few days - its a total different car. And most definitely not a p-car, but its starting to grow on me. All that comfort, damn nice. Navi system that works, mp3 from SD cards, bigger rear seats = much more weight.
So while on paper it has more horsepower, its not a sportscar and my old 911 would be able to run circles around it.
But it IS very fast, its super comfortable and a fantastic family car. And the V8 sounds great.
So can gladly recommend it to anyone in need of a family replacement car
Great choice, the S4 is a good blend of performance/family car.
I've been without MY Porsche for well over a month, now I hang out here and live vicariously through my Rennlist friends. It's not quite the same, but it'l do....for now.
my wife wouldn't go for it....I actually liked the Q7....but officially the "boat" is my wifes car and I have my P.....I just don't like to drive my P for anything under 15 miles...so the "boat" has become my main source transportation and to be honest it drives great and sounds amazing.
And arrogant...I have seen a couple of M3's and they are sexy!! the coupe a little more than the sedan...but even the m3 sedan looks sooo much better than the regular 3 series.
Thanks, Nick!! I think I agree. The Sedan is VERY sexy, but I think I give the Coupe the (slight) nod on the sex appeal. However, the Sedan was the "smart" choice.
