Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Price is really not a concern, however to save $20 and keep it in savings might be a good idea : my options: 1. order the new 2005 cab and wait until Aug ( what they tell me ) - 95k 2. buy the new 2004 cab and don't wait ~ 90k 3. wait and find a newer 2002 / 2003 low mileage ~70 - 75k I guess its all in what I want. payment is really not an issue - I love the new dvd based nav and aluminum / leather interior , hower the 996 is really nice too. I guess not a bad problem to have ....

POST 2Original post

You should be able to do a lot better on a 2004 left-over Cab. Try Champion Porsche in Pompano Beach, FL. They do huge volume and will discount.....

POST 3Original post

If money is not an issue, buy a new 2004 now, drive it for one year and then get a new (2006) 997 if you really want one.

POST 4Original post

I'm seeing 04' cabs for sale (new and used) in the 75-80K range all over. These have msrp's in the 85-90K range. When I was at my dealer they pulled out a slip for an 05' cab coming in and I believe they told me roughly 85K.....maybe not optioned well, don't remember 02' or 03' I would be looking in the 65K and under range. Depreciation seems to have increased. The numbers I have seen show prices at about 64% of msrp after 3 years. Yet, the leases I am looking at all give higher depreciation rates which ain't good for leasing.

POST 5Original post

If DVD nav is a must have, I'd wait for 997. Your only alternative is to get a 2002 w/o the MOST and add an aftermarket DVD Nav. New 996 cab should be at least 10K off MSRP. 2002-2003 low mi should be $57-65k. If saving money isn't your primary concern, get the 997 cab.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks everyone for the advice, i'll let you know what happens. any links to an aftermarket DVD nav for the 2002 996 ?
