Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

just got some new wheels from another rennlister, i'm going from 17s to 18s
the rear tires need to be replaced and the fronts are 50% worn
i was wondering if i was to replace all the tires what make people on the board would choose
the new wheels currently have contisports on them and although i was inmpressed with them in my old boxster i was wondering if there are any better options?
i have another set of wheels for the track and i live in the mid south so therefore no snow
i am a fairly spirited driver and where i live does have periods with a ton of rain, so good wet weather performace would be useful
i used to have p-zeros on a BMW with symetrico at the front and asymetico at the back and i thought they were awesome, but i've also heard good things about bridgestone as well
comments appreciated
Porsche approved tires are listed in 18" as:
Bridgestone S02A
Continental ContiSport2
Michelen PSRib
Pirrelli PZero Asim
Most on the board have S02s or Pilot Sports. But as with exhaust note, etc., everybody has their own opinion as to what is "best".
Do a search on this, since it has been beat to death and you will find a plethora of reading material
Good Luck with your choice. Can't go wrong if you stick to the list above.
Just purchased Bridgestone SO3s for the 2nd time for rain and daily; and Pirelli PZero corsa for dry track. SO3s do really well for street and track in the rain.
Yokohama Parada Spec-2 or Falken FK451 would also be a good choice if in a lot of wet, I have a gripe with the Bridgestone S02A (seem to be inconsistent in quality and balance, if sticking to the list the ContiSport2 would top it for me...
Can't speak for the Michelin, but I just went through my first set of tyres. I had the SO2's and liked the dry traction but the wet was HORRIBLE! I am starting a set of Conti's this week.
hmm. i'm in tennessee and one minute it can be bone dry and the next its like driving through a swimming pool
i guess its down to the pzeros and the contis
P-Car,
PERSONALLY ;-) I have a set of Yoko AVS ES100s on the 18s on my Boxster and they were a fantastic value and great performance. Check tirerack.com for the ratings. Also, I was looking at the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S, as they would be a good compromise for Nashville weather.
Here is a list of choices:
try these
Also, keep in mind that the fronts you have are fine, and the rears will wear twice as fast, meaning, if you call tirerack or whomever and they have a set of original contisport rears, they will be worn by the time the fronts are ready to change.
PS-Did you get the msg I left on Sat?
yeah - i got the message - thanks
as i said, i got on pretty well with contis on my boxster, but the last pair i got was two years ago and i wasn;t sure if there had been any improvements in other brands, and if they are broadly comparable then the added bonus is that i just need 2 tires to keep the matched set
