Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I run both streets and Rs throughout the season and apart from being a little slower I don't know that I *NEED* Rs for the average lapping day.

most don't know what r-compound tires bring, often an order of magnitude in improvements accross the board...and if you want to be in fast run group, you'll want them.

I love the PSE with the switch, but honestly the only time I use the switch is to impress riders (nobody I know has ever seen anything like it).

I don't have a PSE, but if I did, I was thinking what the heck would i use the switch for?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just curious to see which mod(s) you guys/gals like the best. Little or big, lets hear it! For me, I would have to say my favorite mod is my fabspeed exhaust. Punching it through tunnels is simply ADDICTING.
some mods that EVERY car should have
1. bumperplugs (from bumperplugs.com if you car didn't come with them - as some newer ones seem to come with the from the factory) - GET RID OF THAT UGLY FRONT PLATE.
2. clear side markers. - stupid USA homologation law makes ugly yellow ones.
anyway, after that, some great OEM mods to start with are of course
3. PSE - porsche OEM sport exhaust - just sublime
4. Short Shifter (mabye only of use on Non Turbo, Non GT 996s , as said models already have somewhat shorter throws).
5. GT3 bucket seats (REALLY CONNECT you to the car)...
6. New wheels, no bling please
anyway, the list goes on and on, these are just some of the more common mods.
remember, your porsche is like a black hole for money.
...smoked front side markers
...35% tint all around
...PSE from Brandywine (no switch: all on, all the time)
...X74 from Gert
And I'm done (with the possible exception of the short throw shifter)!
I love the PSE with the switch, but honestly the only time I use the switch is to impress riders (nobody I know has ever seen anything like it). Otherwise PSE is on LOUD mode 99.8% of the time...
I was just thinking that as well.. I don't have a PSE, but if I did, I was thinking what the heck would i use the switch for? I GUESS you would use it if you don't want to disturb the neighbors (doesn't apply to city life) OR if your passenger simply cannot stand the sound (who doesn't like the notes of a p-car?)... But even on "LOUD mode", it isn't obnoxious at all (friend has one). I'll probably get flamed, but it doesn't make sense to me... *flame suit on***
Nonethless, a very cool little mod (especially when it comes to bragging rights)! Gotta have that nice puurrrr, that's what makes a porsche, a porsche! IMHO
Best mod is when I mod the nut behind the wheel. Drivers ed and tracking the car is the best mod in my mind. You get closer to being able to use the full capabilities of the car no matter what doo-dad is attached. ;-)

imo, the only mod a us spec 996 really needs, is a more capable suspension system. go w/ the x74 or row m030. no need for more power, etc. untill you've mastered the car. spend the extra cash on de's, track days, etc. by far the best money you'll ever **** away. beyond that, maybe an extra set of carrera 5-spokes w/ dot-r tires.
My dash mounted spoiler switch...simple to install...and easy to use. Now I can wave to pretty girls behind me...
Absolutely no Bling! Some P/cars are starting to look like ricers.
I'm not sure I completely agree w/the R-compound comment. Sure they offer more grip but tracking w/streets is fine. I've been lucky enough to have several race winning pro drivers in my car and talk to me about tires amongst other things. One emphatically stated that he recommends staying on streets for DE level drivers. If racing, they want R-comps but they each said for DEs street tires are fine. In fact they make it easy to play on the edge of adhesion as the allow greater slip angles and earlier warnings. I run both streets and Rs throughout the season and apart from being a little slower I don't know that I *NEED* Rs for the average lapping day. Plus its just fun passing guys on R-compounds when you're on streets. Just my $.02.

its fun passing race prep'd guys in my lowly 'street' car when all i got are dot-r's, it's all relative i guess. most don't know what r-compound tires bring, often an order of magnitude in improvements accross the board...and if you want to be in fast run group, you'll want them.
