Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Go purchase some Simichrome polish at your local motorcycle shop. It is in a yellow and red tube, like toothpaste. Motorcyclists use it to remove the blueing on the chrome exhaust pipes. I think it is about $9.00. Works great.
Steve
I typically use aluminum polish, a toothbrush, then the softer "buffing" cloths. Best way to get at 'em is to take them off and use a buffing wheel.

Back in the Navy days I remember shining the engine room brass using never dull pads (seems like a bad dream now). Still use the stuff, works great for me
Absolute best way.....nothing like having the right tool for the job.
I remember hearing guys all the time from the military swear by this stuff, it must really work. I have never used it but have wanted to, they say it will "polish a terd".
I polish my tips once a year with a Buffing Wheel, and then give them a good coat of Rejex. Rejex keep the tips from turning brown, and keeps the crap that the wheels kick up on the muffler and tips from sticking.
I highly recommend the combination.
Before I got married, I used to date a girl who could suck the chrome off..... oh, wait... those were trailer hitches, not exhaist tips! Sorry! NEVER MIND!
One bolt (collar clamp) on each that is about 12" up the pipe where they attach to the cans. Tips are actually welded to a short section of exhaust pipe, all comes out as one. Mark the clamp and pipes with chalk or paint marker so you can line them back up properly and avoid the embarrassing "sagging tips" dilemma.
This is true only for the early cars. In 02 and later cars, the stainless finisher tip is held to the lower exhaust pipe by a single bolt instead of being welded. Remove the bolt and the finisher tip slides off.
Sorry for the delayed response... been up in VT playing in the snow for a few days.
I bought it from PepBoys. It's non abrasive and works really well. I've been very happy with how well it removes the tarnish from my SS tips.
