Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I know this is pocket change for most of you but any guidance you can give me would helpful and, of course, if you can point me to a better deal, please do so.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2000 911 Coupe (C2); 30,500 miles; manual tranny; pretty basic though it does have a "premium" factory stereo system (Bose?) and traction control as options. It looks and drives great.
Porsche dealer listed it for $33,900 and wants $3,000 for a 2yr/24,000 "bumper to bumper" warranty. Based on what I've read here and there, I'm thinking its worth more like $30,000 and while the warranty is typically overpriced it not over the top. The 2 year is the most they will offer apparently.

Hoping To Buy My First Porsche But Too Cheap To Overpay
First off....$30K isn't pocket change to a lot of the guys here....it's a serious investment in a great car. Secondly, those aftermarket warranties can be a PIA depending upon which company it is. What state are you in? You can do a search on aftermarket warranties and read all about the horror stories and evasive action they take to keep from having to honor the costs of fixing whatever-it-is. If it's a Porsche warranty, then I'd probably go for it, but I'm not aware of any Porsche bumper to bumper for a MY00 car....so it's likely aftermarket....and I'm not a big fan of those.
$33,900 is obviously priced for negotiations....and your $30K figure sounds good for a car that doesn't have many options. The traction control (should be a rocker switch that is labeled PSM or TC) is worth getting and it didn't come on all the cars...had to be special ordered IIRC. Premium sound is not really premium....but the description is good marketing.
Insofar as pointing you....there are guys on Rennlist, 6 Speed, and RennTech who are selling their cars. Most of these guys are known entities to the forums, and as a general rule, take excellent care of their cars. You have to be a member of Rennlist to see the member to member for sale, but maybe someone will respond to you if they see you're serious about buying a Porsche. Right now is a buyer's market...good time to buy. Best of luck to you. Main thing is don't settle for anything that isn't EXACTLY what you want. There are a lot of 99 to 01 996's out there that are being sold....I mean lots....so you should be ablel to nail what you want....as long as you have the financing and are ready to roll.
