The only issue I had with it was the 915 trans/non-hydraulic clutch, which led me to upgrading to a 911 with hydraulic.

Suggestion
If they don't fix this problem they might loose their reputation as a good used car source.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In my search for my next 911, I found a nicely priced triple black convertible on Autotrader. Here was the response a received from the "owner":
"Hi there Todd,
First of all thank you for your interest. The car is in perfect order, clear carfax, no accidents, no maintenance needed for the following months. I have to tell you that I moved to Europe (England) and I shipped the car here not knowing that the customs, insurance and road tax will be so expensive here. I will arrange shipping back to the US and I will allow 5 days for inspection once you receive the car. It is still titled in the US, you will not be liable of any import taxes.
If the distance is not an issue we can move forward. I will go down with the price only for a quick cash deal.
Let me know if you need more details on the car.
All the best,
Gerald

So from this guy's perspective it is so much easier to arrange shipment BACK to the USA instead of attempting to sell it to some British bloke who will pay whatever customs and licensing fees exist out there...yeah right!
I actually considered responding with "I'll give you $12k quick cash," knowing he would accept it and tell me where to send the money or deposit. But then I figured I didn't want to get involved with this guy at all (who will end up burning in youknowwhere, as you know he takes people's money for a living). These scams are a trip though - ever peruse the Craigslist ads? - - where they list the car as located in New Jersey (no town or city) and then the picture of the car is in the desert with cactus in the background.
Anyway - Mark G. - I like that picture of the 86 Targa. Drive it much, given you have the Aero? I had a red 83 911 Targa with a 3.2 euro spec in it years ago. A good looking car. The only issue I had with it was the 915 trans/non-hydraulic clutch, which led me to upgrading to a 911 with hydraulic. That 83 Targa, like my 99 Aero, I of course wish I could of/would of somehow kept...
Yeah I have had a couple of those when I was hunting for my car. Autotrader needs to add a 'flag fro scam' button, as they have been invaded with scammer lately. If they don't fix this problem they might loose their reputation as a good used car source.
Make it interesting and ask for a picture of him with the car
Maybe even ask him if his dad knows he is trying to scam people online and try for a allowance raise to pay for his candy instead of robbing people online.
I always have fun with these guys...
Hey Bud,
I would love to show you the car in person but I really want to sell it before I come back from Hawaii. The car is still registered in Texas but I have moved in recent months to Minneapolis because of my work. But I still stand by my offer to ship you the car at my expense and give you a 5 days inspection period before you make up your mind regarding the purchase of the car.
If you are still interested in the car and you want to take advantage of this deal and check out this beautiful car please tell me so and I will give you more details about how we can do this.
Thanks and take care,
Michael

Do you accept monopoly money?
Thanks,
Bud

Well it depends. If I have Park Place and Boardwalk we can talk more.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that's odd. In Dallas Park Place sells Lexus's and Boardwalk sells Audi's...no BMW's.
Thanks,
Bud
