Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I went over a nasty pot hole with my left wheel . After about 10 minutes I got a warning like "abs failure" psm deactivated. Drive car to workshop Obviously it is something to do with the abs/psm in the left wheel. Anyone else had this and how did you fix it?

POST 2Original post

I think your camber has been changed and your steering sensor is seeing it. You probably need an alignment done or your steering sensor needs to be centered.

POST 3Original post

I agree with Jumper. Your alighnment is out and porsche will have to reset your steering sensor setting. Rob

POST 4Original post

I had this happen to me only I didn't hit a pot hole and my lights were coming on intermittently, This is what what Loren over at renntech.org advised: "Check for a P0102 fault. P0102 is the same error you will get if the MAF is unplugged. This can also cause ABS and PSM lights to come on as the DME is not sensing the PSM data and combining it with the throttle position and mass air flow readings. Second possibility is a bad wheel sensor. A shop with a PST2 could test that for you." The second scenario sounds more like your situation.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I took it to porsche today and talk about incompetence. The service guy saw the psm light was on and he wanted to order a new sensor without looking to see if something has come loose. Is that normal? Ordering a part before you have done the diagnosis. I also had a bit of trim come loose in the rear window and they other guy there said they would have to replace the trim and window! derrr...he is nuts!! It just needs some adhesive. Under warranty I would do that but it ran out 2 months ago ( we only get 2 years here in Europe). I was thinking about putting a complaint in to Stuttgart about how incompetent they are. What you think?

POST 6Original post

Was it the service advisor or the tech who suggested this? Service advisors don't really know a hell of a lot about the cars and usually get paid based on how many RO's (repair orders) they write up. You should insist that a Tech looks at the car with you before any parts are ordered.
