Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just installed the Fabspeed mufflers by themselves - not cat stuff.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Ok I've driven 996's before and i never thought they were loud.
I drove the car to work Friday, and i swear the exhaust sound was
not what I expected, was really annoyingly loud. COuld there be a hole
or does the muffler ever go out? I just bought an '01 996 with 60K miles.
The boxsterS is quieter even with the top downLOL
this one sound like glasspak inside the cabin...
for some reason I only hear it
on the driver's side... Almost sound like I already installed the fabspeed..
which i have planned... but is this normal?
maybe you bought a P with sport exhausts without knowing it...or you just had a bad day...and than suddenly things annoy you more...I am not kidding! Bad day headaches etc...and your perception of things change!
Or maybe one exhaust came lose?? I doubt this but everything is possible..
I have a spare pair of 996 mufflers in perfect working condition, in my garage.
I replaced them with Fabspeeds.
If you are interested, I would give them to you if you cover the shipping.
I have a PSE that is open (loud) all the time and on my Cab with top up it is actually not overly noisey. Sounds like you have a problem in the exhaust system.
thanks guys, I will check it out, as soon as my visitors leave my house, LOL
thanks for the offer Fro, but I think i'll replace mine with fabspeed as well.. how's the cabin
sound on the fabspeed..
FRO-did you intall the Fabspeed mufflers or the cat-back system. I was thinking of installing the cat-back but was concerned about it being too loud. What do you think??
Thanks, Roger B.
I just installed the Fabspeed mufflers by themselves - not cat stuff.
I think it is a perfect compromise on the sound - low and mellow when cruising, but a great "growl" at WOT..........yeah baby!
ok i took a short video, this is with all windows closed..cut and paste, on your browser
including the - at the end if the link dont worky..
