Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Wife's Boxster dripped 3-4 drops after a trip several years ago, it's also dripped half dozen drops of coolant after a hard run once or twice in 8 yrs.
Leading evidence: 'Run once or twice in 8 yrs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run once or twice in 8 yrs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What's goin' on???
Leaver the 2002 Targa at the dealer for 2 weeks whilst I'm away -- for a 120k service and report to me on anything that needs doing.
4 days in I get an email from the dealer"needs an RMS and we will do the clutch whilst were there because we are in there so it would be sensible to fix"
I think about it and say no -- because I will try to do the job myself after reading the posts of other brave "self help" Renlisters.
Pick the car up and sure enough it is leaking from the RMS -- black drops on the garage floor -- for 3 or four days (its a daily driver) -- then the drops stop -- that was a month ago and NO MORE DROPS.
So I get to thinkin' -- and it dawns on me -- it has never leaked before -- never a drop on the floor before -- never a mention of an oil leak at any of the previous 5 dealer services in the past 16 months (I do about 35k a year and get it serviced about each 10k)
Is there such a thing as a one off (major?) RMS leak???
my 99' would sometime drip a couple drops once in a while... then stop for a month and repeat. IMO it wasnt worth "rushing" in there to fix.. I was planning to do it when the clutch went or a could not sleep any more due to the IMS nightmares...
I would not worry about it
I don't think so, things usually leak or they don't, sometimes seepage comes and goes and may be greater if the car is pushed hard and certain components get a bit hotter quicker than normal causing sudden expansion issues.
Wife's Boxster dripped 3-4 drops after a trip several years ago, it's also dripped half dozen drops of coolant after a hard run once or twice in 8 yrs. Nothing worth looking into.
Thanks, for the advice, was not overly worried -- just curious to see if anyone else has had the really noticeable "one off"
I certainly do not plan to rip into it -- happy to let it go -- the car is a keeper -- I am planning the big effort for later in the year -- RMS, clutch (maybe slightly lighter flywheel but a lot more research to be done there -- not sure if a LWflywheel can contribute to RMS) and the upgraded ceramic bearing and heavy duty retaining stud and new porsche rear seal and "cap", and -- new brake discs and pads.
in my case, if the car sat for a few days.... then I drove it... it would leak (weap, seap, drip, dribble) its couple drops... drive it more fequently and they would not happen. The new owner (I disclosed this before he took ownership) reports after driving it everyday... no drips
IMO if it was an RMS "leak" you would know - and IMO the weap might be from the IMS seal, the case bolts, or the RMS... so keep an eye on it and when its the "right time" change it all and keep right on smiling !
save yourself this thought...unless you want to go with the "multi-piece" crank
Granted, Jake says this is mostly on track cars, but I have heard the vibration on the crank is bad on these since the first support is over 4" away from the flywheel
