This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I plan to repolish and repaint all four wheels on my 99-996 Cab. Could someone please help with correct jacking procedure/s and correct placement for the four car stands. Your support appreciated.

POST 2Original post

there are square pads with a hole in them under the rocker pannel on each side, ie: in front of the rear wheel arch and behind the front wheel arch. then you will see the frame crossmembers that run from one side of the car to the other, these are a stable spot to place the jack stands.

POST 3Original post

The trick is how to jack up the car while leaving those four jack points free to place jack stands.

POST 4Original post

puut your jack under a rear jack point. jack it high enough to lift the front. put a jackstand under that wheel. Do the same on the other side. Now you have the front end on jackstands. Then put your jack on the cross member centered under the rear where the cross member is. Jack it up and place jackstands under the jack points on each side. Make sure you have wheel blocks to prevent rolling...duh..

POST 5Original post

Orient Express has posted an excellent and very detailed procedure (of course, such fine work would normally be expected from someone with a 996 of this color combo) at RennTech.org: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3404

POST 6Original post

Anyone know how high the car needs to be to put an engine in?
