Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I drove this motor in the original car before it was pulled and refreshed and it ran perfectly.

I would love to hear what you do to run the 3.8 engine in your car.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Customer's car that is installing a new DFI 3.8. I drove this motor in the original car before it was pulled and refreshed and it ran perfectly. It only has 33k orig miles on it but they pulled the heads and refeshed them along with the all the bearings, etc. including the IMS. This was going to be my new motor but I've since found a 3.8 I'm going to use. This motor is complete with all accessoeries including the air conditioning compressor. 12month/12k mile warranty included.

Mind me asking why did they pull the engine and 'refreshed' heads and bearings..
I mean was there any sign of problem that pushed do that work ?
I wonder what head refresh and bearing mean as well... more by curiosity than anything else, but if you want to enlight us
Because I had to idea there was bearing that could/should be replaced in the heads
Phil it's going into a race car.
Agreed there was probably no reason to refresh other than it's relatively easy to do so when it's out of the car and makes selling the motor a little easier, especially with a guarantee. Bearings are rod and mains...
oh even the rods are changed, quite deep refresh then..
nice.
if only it was a 3.8
I would entertain the idea in a much different way
Anyways listing the mods / refresh parts, might help value this better and interest more buyers.

IIRC you can run stock ECU and harness. I'll let JR chime in.
One question though, is variable timing affected in anyway due to the different variocam setup or does that not come into play here?
ECU reprograming and/or switches are used to make a "window" of RPM that will allow Variocam to work as needed. It's been done many times, not a new thing.
I guess I meant in more terms of any mechanical issues you might face in terms of any compatibility although it is completely isolated to the head, I was just wondering if there were any gotcha's anywhere for the system.
Actually, the 2002 3.6liter was the first year for the NON-return fuel system, but that's easy to retrofit as needed either way. Just time and $$$ and really not bad at all to do.
Run the 3.4 heads, intake, and TB and you don't have to do anything. Simple plug-n-play with more cylinder volume....
Just reach down in the tank and pull the return fuel pump.....
