Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, First time post! I have just bought a 996 and have found a strange issue with the alarm. The car locks and unlocks correctly with the remote fob, no bips, the engine starts correctly. However when I turn off the engine, the alarm sounds around 10 - 15 seconds later. I have to turn on the engine again and turn it off in order to silence the alarm and then get out and lock the car. The car is amazing to drive, however the alarm is driving me nuts. Any thoughts? Bill

POST 2Original post

Is the alarm fob in the key or another fob? Sounds like it might be sticking between valet mode and silent, of some sort though the alarm going off after key off sounds more like a wiring issue. (Possibly bad ground on the unit or even uber dirty negative terminal on the car battery it's self. (I owned a stereo shop for a decade and installed for 18 years)

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In the key itself. I will check the battery and clean up the terminals.
